Unreal experience, service + a much needed + phenomenal addition to the Avandaro/Valle food scene. And hotdamn, I haven't eaten so much otoro in an omakase ever, anywhere, worldwide.
This is one of those places that you almost don’t want to review - that selfish part of you that’s like, “if people know it’ll be harder for me eat here whenever I want." But, obviously, you gotta because every part of me REALLY wants this place to not only succeed but also I want people to get to experience this level of next level deliciousness and the wonderfulness of the people who make it all happen: the owner(s), namely Bernardo and the extremely attentive staff, and - my god - the chefs.
I will talk about the food. I promise, but first....
I’ll start with the fact that we had meaning to try this place the last time we were in Avandaro/Valle and never got to it. So when we were back last weekend and called on a Saturday night, of course, the place was fully reserved for the three sittings at the sushi bar. Nonetheless, they got a last minute table in the other bar area where we immediately met one of the owners, Bernardo, who greeted us with an attentiveness and warmth that is rare.
Bernardo is, I say again, a rare & wonderful human being. The kind of people you want to know and who make what already promises to be an excellent experience because of the food, something truly exceptional because of their exceptionally generous and warm energy. I say this having literally met him that night - and what a wonderful privilege. Full of life, extremely present, and super attentive. Despite the last seatings of the three they offer being fully booked (obviously), he and the kitchen extended themselves and served me and my partner with the full 7 course omakase.
OK - the omakase. Did i mention the otoro? the chutoro? the akami? I mean, holy fackkkkk, I have never eaten so much otoro, or chutoro, nor so beautifully prepared, in one sitting. Did I mention the black truffle oil? I mean, did I mention the otoro with the black truffle oil? The soft shell crab temaki? Did I mention....just...I mean...just go.
Thank you Bernardo and house for such an unexpected magical night. Faaaaaaackkkk yes, we...
Read moreWonderful experience people & food & sake. The set up is lovely with a lot of attention to details. It’s in a unique area we call the Switzerland of Mexico. But a lot better than Swiss. Lovely team that makes it a fun experience. They respect the ingredients so much and take the mission so seriously with a lot of success. We have enjoyed the Fatty Tuna Sashimi, NZ Salmon, unique EEal Risotto, Clams, even the Miso soup at the end was amazing. Choise of Sake was so great. Super recommended even if you make the trip from Mexico City...
Read moreI only learned that Omakase was the high end style of food preparation and presentation after being seated. The web links, especially Google Maps, need to show you when one searched for Japanese restaurants because otherwise people miss it. I found it because it's on the top floor of our hotel, Flow Condesa. Anyway, it's one of the very best meals l have had the pleasure to experience....
