El Bayo — Restaurant in Veracruz

The view out to the river is nice but nothing so impressive. Ordered a shrimp cocktails and A piña colada. The cocktail sauce was a red sauce drenched w sugar - I put nearly 3 tablespoons of hot sauce in it, in-store store I could only taste the sugary red sauce!!! The piña colada was made with rents it coconut, and taste it like rancid melted coconut ice cream, with one drop of alcohol. The waitress brought me a shot of pineapple juice to reduce the sweetness, and it didn’t make a lick of a difference. All I could taste is rancid coconut ice cream! They wouldn’t replace the drink for a margarita (same price), but made me another piña colada that’s supposedly less sweet, but didn’t make a lick of a difference! It took them 4 requests and 10 minutes to NOT bring me the check - I literally had almost exit the restaurant with a credit card in hand, to have them notice that I’m not planning on waiting forever to get the check.

Don’t waste your time coming all the way here to eat/drink here - it’s far away! Not worth the hassle for food and drink that has no other flavor profile...

I recommend visiting this old shipyard for a bit or wartime history of Veracruz. The cab driver, Demetrio Loyola is a well prosed and educated native who knows Mexico through and through. He will take his time and really explain the history of every landmark in the Boca del Rio, Veracruz area. He also spoke some English having lived in America for a short while....

Fui a este lugar con mi novio y traíamos una basura de unas paletas que nos habíamos comido antes y la chica de la entrada de cabello pintado rojo no nos permitió la entrada, dijo que teníamos que ir a tirar la basura al frente (o sea, en los botes del parque) para dejarnos pasar... ??? Como por que??? Bueno pues claramente decidimos irnos de ahí, les recomiendo un lugar que esta a la vuelta que se llama la jarocho que fue a donde consumimos después de que no nos dejaron pasar y estoy agradecida de que lo hicieran porque encontré mi restaurante favorito...
