While I do enjoy eating mostly traditional meals in the countries I visit (I can get Burger King or Italian food anywhere), I will definitely be back to Rosewood.
Apparently, they also have a sister restaurant that serves Spanish cuisine and I can't wait to check it out. The decor here was business casual with some living walls and a welcoming atmosphere which was added to by the friendly staff.
I ordered the Spicy Salami pizza. The salami is made in-house and was perfect alongside the chopped up jalapenos. The crust was thin with a corn meal base and so was still crunchy and not a pile of mush. As many people will tell you internationally, there are things to look for when eating a pizza and this had them all. Fresh ingredients, a tasty crust when you eat it standalone, a fresh and slightly sweet tomato sauce and a few charred bubbles that help break past that sweetness to create the perfectly balanced slice.
This was the first restaurant my local fiancé brought me to and she had the RKE Cheeseburger. It was massive and even so, it was so delicious that she ate the whole thing along with the fries. The brioche bun was made in-house and had a beautiful crisp shine. This brand even has its own market where you can buy some of this stuff (see photos).
While the food here was magnificent, I want to end this review slightly oddly, with my appetizer. The coffee. I had all intentions to just have the cappuccino and my pizza and be on my way. By the end of the meal, I had consumed 3! With just one of their Rosewood branded packets of sugar, this was the best cappuccino I think I've ever had. The bitter notes of a strong coffee bean were there, but the overall flavour profile was so much more complex than that. If I could afford it, I'd go there every one of the 28 days that I am here just for the coffee! Well done, Rosewood...
Read moreDuring my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind (politely checking in from time to time, ready to be of assistance) and helpful with navigating the menu for Vegan options (which requires one to be specific about ingredients, particularly from Vegetarian options). The Cauliflower Hummus is a tasty-rich surprise; the pita-like bread is sweeter than salty though grainy sweet as sweet-salty as though with a bit of cornmeal and sugar; the cauliflower is crunchy, carrying the flavors of the hummus well; I recommend stirring the hummus to ensure the oil spreads well to further enrichen the flavors from the ingredients already present in the hummus. The Veggie Sandwich is tasty; the Ciabatta bread offers a sweet distinct flavor meshing with the vegetables within well; each bite tastes better with the Cauliflower Hummus, like a good second dipper when the pita-like bread is done. The Paprika Fries are so good, sweet and salty, like salt and vinegar except sweet and salty, with the right amount of spices, even the fries with less seasoning carry the flavors well (and the fries taste fine alone though tasty differently after a dipping in the Cauliflower Hummus). All the food is filling. The interior is really cozy with a variety of seating options whether alone or in a group. I really like the zen vibes of the interior decorating (green and wood, to say the least). The food travels well (tasting consistently well after about two hours of travel, in a container). The establishment takes different...
Read moreBy chance I spotted this resturant on Google Maps! I did a little more online checking but then found beautiful recent photos and a lovely up to date instagram account! The restaurant is tucked in an unassuming building - the sign is stuck on with paper over a previous tenant. The entry and stairs are dark but get to the second floor and enter as if you have walked through the wardrobe to the Narnia of Mongolian food options! The place is spotlessly clean. The decore is visually appealing, the chairs and tables are good quality and very well colour chosen. The staff greeted me at the door. The waitress had more perfectly toned and pitched english than I did! The house wine is high quality and good tasting. There are also a range of finely selected bottle options. The bar is beautiful and I noticed they make amazing cocktails. The music is the right level and lighting is soft. The BREAD is the best bread I have tasted as true “italian bread” in Mongolia! I tried the Tuna Carpaccio! Wow! So many flavours - pistastios, lemon, pepper, capers! The single but delectable tomato brushetta was on yet another amazing bread! I was then treated with the beef tenderloins - mind blown! This was the most moist tender perfectly cooked meat I have had in years - the best in Mongolia! A wonderful place for all occasions but a really great place to...
