What a spot! I know my wife loves this place. We went twice while there. Personally, I like their other restaurant, Rosewood, more. However, the food and service here certainly warrant a visit if you're in Ulaanbaatar. The Shrimp Aguachile Ceviche was tart and fresh. The Beef Barbacoa tacos were on a nice dark corn tortilla and had a ton of flavourful and sweet BBQ sauce. The Jamón Cebo Iberico was nice and had a nice bit of salt, but was on the expensive side. The Queso Fundido was insane. Huge and cheesy with a nice strong hit of flavours from the veggies inside, really great. The Beef Shoulder was insanely tender on a bed of velvety smooth mashed potatoes. The Smoked Beef Tongue was similar in texture to liver and was on a large bed of beans. Like all their dishes, very flavourful, however, I probably wouldn't get it again as it's a texture I'm not very fond of, but if you like tongue or liver, you'll really like this. The XXX Spicy Taco was advertised. Holy hell what a spice. However, the grilled pork and onions comes through nicely. It's also good for a laugh among friends because it really is spicy. The sauce in the Gambas Al Ajillo made the dish. The Churros were light and fluffy on the inside and wonderfully crisp on the outside with a generous amount of cinnamon sugar. Finally, the cheesecake with a layer of sweet fig on top is one of the reasons my wife took me here in the first place. So smooth and creamy, this was an extremely unique cheesecake that I would...
Read moreI think the husband and wife duo are hitting an another homerun with this one. The food is absolutely fantastic especially when it’s really hard to find the right spices and ingredients. All dishes are latin cuisine inspired. There are no compromises with ingredients. The dishes come in small portions so you can order a bunch of them to try all kinds of flavor combinations.
I’m not very much into mixed drinks, but there seem to be a good variety with hard to find tequilas. However, they also have Australian beers (little creatures and lashes, can’t remember the rest). Any ale is good for a town that is overflowing with lagers.
The feel and aura of the place is loud and alive: it is bursting with flavors, colors, music, alcohol and happy people.
The price is actually on the more expensive side, but I can understand why. Lots of small dishes and exotic ingredients. Expect to pay MNT 100k per person, including drinks, to be fully stuffed. But if you like food, you’re not going to miss that money.
Cliff and Zaya are also into quality control. So many restaurants in this town start good and stay good for only a few months. So the best part about the place is that you can expect to have the same type of food and service 3 years from now as you did yesterday.
A very welcome addition...
Read moreI went around 5:45pm and it already had a decent amount of people already there. I picked my own table and the servers quickly brought bread, jug of water and the menu. In order to get your servers attention you'll want to raise your hand and then they'll come promptly.
I ordered the chicken burrito with a margarita. I'll say, the margarita is one of the best I've had in UB. Tastes just like it does back in the US. The chicken burrito came out lightning fast, I'd say 3-4 minutes after I had ordered. The burrito had excellent flavour in it with some avocado as well. Overall a solid meal. For dessert I ordered the cheesecake which was really the best part. The flavor was so rich and delectable. I pondered the tres leches but the cheesecake was the better choice.
Overall an enjoyable restaurant to have quality food, it...
