Lovely lunch and fabulous views are not to be missed when you visit Boka Kotorska.
This restaurant was close to our resort, so we visited it three times, one for breakfast and twice for lunch, all without reservation. For dinner, we were not able to get a reservation, when we tried booking on the day.
The ambient is very nice here, with fresh oranges at every table that give it that lovely smell, contemporary furniture and incredible views, not to mention air conditioning!
You can sit inside or outside, big windows allow for an unobstructed view of the bay. The location is phenomenal.
The menu is interesting, but fixed, no variations or changes are allowed (a direct quite was "if I allow you to make this change, than everyone will want something."). Coming from the West, where you can swap rice for fries without a problem, here it is not possible, we just had to get used to it.
Execution is mostly very good.
Breakfast was amazing (for grown-ups). Montenegrian breakfast is a must as are fresh Juices and filled croissants. (More) Options for kids would be desirable. There are no side dishes to order (e.g. a portion of rice or potatoes, etc.)
Service is a hit and miss, sometimes you get a great guy, who is helpful and fast, gets it right, sometimes you wait 20 minutes to get a menu or make an order, waiter is in a bad mood, annoyed, not informed, forgets the order, gets the wrong drinks...
But hey, with those views, you ignore the rest and just enjoy that moment...
Read moreIf we were in the UK I'm not sure it would be 5 stars but by Montenegro standards this restaurant is incredible. The food in Montenegro is generally TERRIBLE and I'm not exaggerating. I wanted to cry when I finally had a decent dish at Verige 65.
We spent a week travelling around the country and as self confessed foodies (cringe but necessary to emphasise this in the context of a review) we couldn't find anywhere in Montenegro, cheap or expensive (after a LOT of research) that had good food.
We had given up on finding edible food in Montenegro until the last night after extensive research via Google, Instagram, tiktok, food blogs and newspaper reviews (guardian etc) and eventually this place popped up as recommended at the end of a tik tok comment.
Thank god because our 3 course meal was delicious! The views were incredible and even the service was friendly. The past week we had barely had any good service and everyone had been fairly rude at the best of times.
Verige 65 comes highly recommended. I have never sat in a restaurant that has a more beautiful location than Verige. My partner has been to Japan and he said the sushi was good. It's also the only place that had a variety of choices on the menu as all other restaurants in Montenegro have the same menu.
If you're on holiday try this place first so you don't spend your...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to go to still enjoy our time on a very cloudy day. And this seemed like a great option, and it didn't disappoint
The food was absolutely delicious, every single item. We were a group of 5, and we got 5 different main courses, with some appetizers, soups etc..
The starter was the prawn tacos, it was a nice start to the meal. Followed by 5 main courses, 4 different ones.
The tuna steak was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, the sesame coat is a classic and it worked really well with the cauliflower puree
The prawn Risotto was probably the star of the table.. the portion is not huge, so if you are really hungry it's probably not the main course for you, but if you like the taste of prawns or seafood, and you would rather quality over quantity then get that!
The grilled calamari was really good, the calamari was grilled perfectly, and the chard was a nice combination with it. Good dish but not extraordinary.
The prawn noodles were great, a different set of flavors that fit together perfectly. The portion also really good for the hungrier ones.
We finished the meal with a mouth watering warm date cake with ice cream.
The service was a bit slow, but it's understandable given the amount of people there. Just keep it in mind in case...
