An American friend resident in Morocco told me about American Fast Food, a new restaurant he had discovered located just down the street from the popular L'Italienne boulangerie and across the street from the Hotel Al Hoceima and Chez Ali.
Their hot dogs, made in Morocco, are 100% beef and served on a delicious warm home-baked bun and smothered in grilled chopped onions and green bell peppers with melted cheese. If you like, ketchup and real American mustard is available. There is also a spicy version of the hot dog. With your meal you get a generous portion of crispy French fries and a chilled soft drink, ice tea or a bottle of water.
My friend said that he first went to American Fast Food on Thanksgiving Day, and the English-speaking owner had some oven-roasted turkey that was left over from a large order from a school. He ate some and thought it tasted quite good. Then he mentioned that the 100% beef hot-dogs were excellent and the French fries were hot and crispy. Chicken wings are also on the menu.
For desert, three versions of home-made cheese cakes are available by the slice or an entire cake. Additionally there are large baked chocolate chip cookies. There is also a selection of American candies such as Tootsie Rolls, Life Savers, mints, etc.
Up some winding stairs there is a quiet and relaxing seating area with five tables, and for the convenience of customers there is a small toilet in one corner of this room.
American-style donuts are now baked daily. I particularly enjoyed their glazed donuts as they seemed to be just as good as anything from a Dunkin' Donuts. The jelly-filled and coffee donuts are equally delicious and delightful.
When I ordered six glazed donuts, they were all carefully placed into a rigid and resealable clear plastic container, so they were not crushed. I was pleased that they tasted as good as any donut I have eaten in America.

Read moreWe had an amazing meal at American Fast Food in Tangier! The food was absolutely fantastic.
We tried the Chicken & Strip Burger, and honestly, it was a 5/5 – one of the best chicken burgers I’ve ever tasted. Juicy, crispy, and packed with flavor.
The Chick’n Cheese Fries were also perfect – another 5/5. Just keep in mind they’re probably best enjoyed fresh at the restaurant, since fries can get soggy if ordered as takeaway.
The Mac & Cheese was okay for me (3/5), but my kids loved it and gave it a solid 5/5.
Now for the real highlight – the Finger Lick’n Chick’n Wings. We had the Red Hot BBQ and Garlic Parmesan flavors, and I can confidently say these were the best wings I’ve had in my life. So flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked.
If you’re a fan of fried chicken or chicken in general, it’s impossible not to enjoy what they serve here. Without a doubt, it’s some of the best chicken I’ve ever eaten.
And to top it all off, the staff were super friendly and welcoming.
If you're visiting Tangier, this is a must-try spot....
Read moreLiving in a state in USA where good halal food is hard to find, we are always on the lookout for good American food. American Fast Food hits all the right spots and reminded me of my Atlanta days. We got Algerian, BBQ, red hot BBQ, and sweet chilli wings. We basically inhaled them. All of them were great, but red hot BBQ was our favorite. We also tried a burger, and my picky husband was impressed. My kid loves hot dogs, so we tried super and he gobbled it up. He tried corndog too and loved it. We had to end on a sweet note, so got some shakes and cookies. The shakes were just the right amount of sweetness, and the cookies were huge and scrumptious. Feeling of home outside of home. Anyone looking for authentic American experience should try it. You'll definitely be back again. 10/10. We'd most...
