And what a difference a year and a half makes! My fellow and I dined at this establishment after staying away for a full year, hoping that our last experience, February 16th, 2024 was an unfortunate slip and one bad night. But sadly, the restaurant seems to be in decline. On this night February 16th 2025, we were to be further disappointed There was a family dining in one part of the restaurant with two overly energetic children. The younger of the two, perhaps no more than five years old decided that the place was his playground running, jumping and shouting near our table. The waiter tried in vain to control the boy but I believe it was up to his mother to keep an eye out. Thankfully the table left about 45 minutes after our arrival. I can never understand people who drag their young offspring to an establishment where entrees are 250 to 350 MAD each. Which brings me to the new menu now including pizza at 80 dirhams a pop. I guess that's what they order for the underlings. Ignoring that, my other half ordered his favorite lamb shanks and I had a hankering for the duck served with seared foie gras. Sadly they were fresh out of foie gras and offered scallops instead. Yikes! I took a pass on that, choosing a rib eye steak instead. We did share an appetizer, not as memorable as on previous visits, so I won't mention it. My fellows lamb was tender but "muttony " the meat obviously from an older animal. As for my rib eye two words, "shoe leather " I couldn't even chew through it and spit it out on my plate. By the way my ribeye was served with a so called bernaise sauce greenish and a little packagy tasting. And another question....where were the veggies? We were served mashed potatoes, frites and a small dish of couscous. Up to our eyeballs in starches. We decided to skip dessert after that and determined that O Saveur had run out of second chances for us. Below is my original review from August, a year and a half ago. Note the difference.
What a splendid place! I'm now convinced O Saveur is the best reastaurant in all of Tangier. My friends and I had wanted to try a newish place overlooking the sea for dinner one Saturday night but the reviews of that place made us question the expense of dining there, so we opted for O Saveur instead as one of our party had been a regular patron with family and friends. What a delight and so glad we made this choice. It was my first time dining here and I was immediately taken by the enchanting garden area reminiscent of paradise. Majestic palms in a garden setting, surrounded by a forest of bamboo, soft ambient lighting placed strategically in the space giving the appearance of warm candlelight. Modern jazz music played from hidden speakers around the garden. The service was vast and professional, waiters quietly taking orders with well mannered smiles and experience, then disappearing like air only to reappear with perfectly chilled bottles of excellent wine or plates of spectacular foods. As for the food itself, what can I say? Everything on the menu a favorite with the well heeled traveling set. Foie gras, fresh oysters, glorious salads, boulliabasse, lamb shanks and my choice, magret de canards stuffed with foie gras prepared in a gentle orange sauce with a delicate season of fine Moroccan herbs. This served with an accompaniement of sweet potato mash. Heavenly! Truthfully, if I was a cat I might have licked the plate!
I do not hesitate in recommending this gorgeous restaurant. It's a little pricey but worth every dirham. I personally have dined in many Michelin starred restaurants in France and this one should be amongst them. I'm convinced O Saveur would fit comfortably in any large and sophisticated city in the world. What else can I...

No...

Ex: our party ordered of four each ordered a main dish, but one ordered an appetizer. Three mains and an appetizer came out together, and the fourth main course did not arrive until well after we were all finished. This shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this caliber. -: Other service issues: the sole arrived without the garnish (capers and tomatoes), guest had to send it back so it arrive correctly. One guest ordered the lamb only to find they did not have it (this has happened multiple times in Morocco, so always have a backup!). Water not regularly refilled. Bread...
