Plateau de Mer — Restaurant in Ouarzazate

I've been to the Plateau de Mer restaurant in Ouarzazate quite a few times, and it's honestly a cool place to grab a bite. The restaurant is pretty new and super clean. The people who work there, from the waiters to the person at the cash register, are really nice and they pay attention to what you need.

What's interesting is that the owner of the place is Moroccan but has spent a long time in the Netherlands, and it feels like they've brought a bit of that European vibe to the way they make sure the food is good, the place looks nice, and the service is top-notch.

The prices for the food are fair, and they give you big portions, so you won't leave hungry. I really liked how fresh the fish tasted, and the meat they use, which comes from the mountains, is super tasty.

They know how to make the food just right. And if you're with your family, you'll be happy to know that you can't smoke in the outdoor area, so it's a great spot to have a tasty meal. I totally...

I’d give this place 3 stars for the seafood alone, but the quality of the other dishes, the atmosphere, and the service bring it up to a solid 4 stars.

The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and nicely presented. We sat in a private area upstairs, which was a nice touch. The lasagne and pasticcio were both delicious, and the salads were fresh and full of flavour.

Unfortunately, the seafood dishes were disappointing — dry, overcooked, and lacking in flavour, especially surprising for a place that supposedly specialises in seafood. Perhaps it’s a regional style, but it didn’t meet my expectations compared to seafood in other countries. The nuggets were also dry and rubbery.

Shocked about these reviews given how terrible the food was. The shrimp for the gambas platter was mushy and disintegrating from being overcooked, some of the pieces were black and tasted off. The margarita pizza was SO salty and had near to no tomato sauce, I had truly never had a worse pizza in my life. The chicken burger was ok but a very small portion. Mojito drink was just syrup. The only tasty thing we had was the avocado smoothie.
