L'îlot Châtain — Restaurant in Safi

Honteux et discriminatoire. Nous sommes venus à L'îlot Châtain pour une soirée spéciale, mais au lieu d’un accueil chaleureux, un membre du personnel est venu nous sermonner sur le “respect” — sans aucune raison valable.

Quand nous avons voulu comprendre, la situation a dégénéré : menaces de sortir les caméras, injonction de se plier ou de partir. Très clairement, ce genre d’agression ne serait jamais arrivé à des clients blancs.

C’était une humiliation raciale. L’ambiance est devenue toxique, et nous avons quitté le restaurant en plein milieu de la commande.

Ce restaurant affiche un comportement raciste qu’il faut dénoncer. Nous n’y remettrons jamais les pieds.

Disgraceful and discriminatory. We came to L'îlot Châtain for a special night, but instead of hospitality, we were approached at our table and lectured to “be respectful” — for absolutely no reason. It felt targeted, uncomfortable, and completely out of place.

When we questioned it, the staff escalated, threatening to “pull the camera footage” and told us to “adhere or leave.” What kind of restaurant polices Black customers while they’re quietly enjoying their evening?

Let’s be clear: this would not have happened to white customers. It was obvious, humiliating, and soaked in racial bias. The atmosphere turned hostile. So hostile, in fact, that we ended up getting up and leaving mid-order.

Restaurants like this should not get a pass for racist behavior. We won’t be back — and you shouldn’t go either.

عار وتمييز عنصري. ذهبنا إلى مطعم L'îlot Châtain لقضاء أمسية مميزة، لكن بدلًا من الاستقبال الحسن، جاء أحد الموظفين إلى طاولتنا وطلب منا أن "نكون محترمين" دون أي سبب يذكر.

عندما حاولنا الاستفسار بهدوء، تصاعد الموقف، وبدأ يهددنا بمشاهدة لقطات الكاميرا، وقال لنا: "إما أن تلتزموا أو تغادروا". من الواضح أن هذا التعامل يستهدف الزبائن ذوي البشرة السوداء.

هذا لم يكن ليحدث مع الزبائن البيض. المعاملة كانت مهينة ومليئة بالتحامل والعنصرية. غادرنا المكان قبل أن يكتمل الطلب لأننا شعرنا أننا غير مرحب بنا.

المطاعم التي تُعامل الناس بهذه الطريقة لا تستحق الدعم.

The quality here is great and the place is very comfortable What I appreciated most is that the fish is fresh, which is rare in many restaurants that often serve old or frozen seafood so that’s a big plus

Prices are a bit high, but you do get good quality overall

One downside:a few waiters tend to act distant, like they're in a rush to get rid of you it might be a quick judgment based on appearance or vibe which is not okay I pay attention to the smallest details, and that part really stood out That said, some servers are kind and professional, and the service system is well organized

Overall, if you care about freshness and a peaceful spot with solid food, it's definitely...

Beautiful restaurant with peacful atmosphere and nice view of the sea.. but the most important is when you look at guys who works there with big smile and positive energy🤘thats the most important for me when you come somewhere and they make a big nice warm welcome.. the legend who served us is Osama and all others waiters are really nice too 🍀 thank you for perfect start of the day with delicious breakfest.. be like this always and you are the winners!!! 🇲🇦 thank you so much and see you...
