We were 8 South Africans visiting Inhaca Island from 27 December to 2 January, and it's an amazingly beautiful island with the most awesome friendly people. On 31 December we arranged with Angelo, the bars chef who also has his own touring business, for a New Year's eve supper and a snorkeling experience on New Year at Santa Maria. The supper, karaoke and party at Erca Bar was a great experience and we enjoyed it thoroughly. In the morning, we were supposed to be picked up to go to Santa Maria at 8am as arranged with him, but no transport ever pitched. At 11:30am on 1 January I went to Erca Bar and met him to get a refund. He was still visibly drunk and kept ignoring me, smirking and laughing in my face when I pleaded with him for our money back. At 12:15pm he agreed that he will go to the ATM and pay us back half our initial payment of R8000/28000 meticals, which would be R4000/14000 meticals. I arranged to return at 3pm to collect and found him boarding a transport to go to the beach. He totally ignored me, went to the beach and we haven't seen him since. We heard afterwards that we were not the only people complaining about him, and that others left the island without having their full holiday experience because of him. This was my first time at Inhaca, and because of him it will be my last. He is nothing but a drunken thief, skelm and conman. He was living his best life with his friends and girlfriend with money stolen from us and other people. We have decided not to let this go, and will actively pursue criminal prosecution of this individual who puts the name of the honest hard working people of Inhaca at risk. Up until now we have heard nothing from him and have not seen our refund. I have told at least 50 of my friends who want to visit Inhaca in the next few months based on our holiday pics to stay far away from Angelo and Erca Bar as skelms and thieves shouldn't be supported in any community. We will all also post our experience on Google review and request Google to red flag Erca Bar so as to warn other first time and other travellers to the island.
