Restaurant Costa do Sol — Restaurant in Maputo

Maybe it was the day or maybe the hype, but I wasn't too impressed. They have a nice view of the beach with good service and food.

However after ordering two plates of different sized shrimp... one large & one small, they served two plates of smaller shrimp. When asked them about the smaller size, sometime later the manager stated they were out of the larger size shrimp and could either reduce the bill or add more shrimp to one plate. A few shrimp later we were gay and happy, but feel had we not brought this to their attention we would have seriously overpaid.

We understand it was busy but we waited 2 hours while watching others receive their meals. My friend got rice instead of chips and his meat was tough. My other friend was told after 1 hour of waiting that her meal was out of stock. We watched others who arrived long after us eat and pay and leave, while the waiters avoided us. My meal had prawns in it though the menu did not specify. To top it all off the waiter asked for a tip when he did not see one, though he never served us other than taking our initial order, getting it wrong and then bringing the bill. Really great costumer service —which is unheard of in Mozambique... It's the only reason I'm hesitant to give any lower than a five star. I had ordered crab curry, and the it was just curry in a bowl with crab with it's shell on (very odd, and messy). I then asked "how am I supposed to eat this?", not because I'm some stuck up American, but because I didn't get the any material to open the crab shell, plus I shouldn't have to when it's in curry sauce.
