Right, so I was there today for a birthday dinner, and it just happens to be my own birthday. Anyways, I do understand the fact that it was tihar and laxmi puja but seriously we had the worst experience. First things first, there was no greeting when we got there, secondly the staffs were too busy with firecrackers and enjoying themselves rather than taking care of their paying customers, third the food was downright awful. I dont know if the girl who served us was high on something but she surely wasn't there with all her focus and gave me an impression of being high, then comes another waiter with our food which we clearly instructed and he even said it himself that we would be served, drinks, starters and main course accordingly and with some time interval as we didn't want to rush our dinner and actually were there for a good time and memory but to our surprise, everything came to our table at the same time. It usually isn't a problem but we ordered a risotto and a pork chop which doesn't taste great when cold. Anyways, can't complain much about our starters and the risotto was decent, but my pork came to my table still alive, no joke it was barely sealed and the most minimally cooked. Me being a chef as well and in this field for more than a decade I do know the differences between meat cooking temperature. When I tried to complain to the waiter about the pork chop, he said to me that they cook pork chop to medium rare and I do understand that is a way to go about it, but my pork chop was rare, more towards bleu and if it had a chance it would jump off my plate and run, I was served a cold mashed potato, when asked to re do my pork, it was literally microwaved and sent back within 1-2 minutes and the mash was still cold. Surprisingly the pork was still very raw to my liking and no one even bothered to ask if they had it done right the 2nd time. The staff and the owners(I think) rather were busy with enjoying themselves and firecrackers. Mind you that they were throwing firecrackers out on the open street which could have caused an accident. Lastly, my partner ordered a cake for my birthday which they received and stored properly and thankfully, but when she asked to get the cake served, it was presented in a box, the box which it came in, where is the common sense?? I myself own a restaurant and that to me is a very bad example of hospitality. Last but not the least, we had to move outside, so we would be able to actually light a candle(fair enough, they had wooden furnitures) but then someone that looked like a manager yelled at the waiter saying why was it allowed as it stain their cushion, I am a grown man and very well know my etiquettes, I am smart enough to make sure it doesn't get too messy and I wouldn't wipe my fingers on the cushions. I could go all day and night but it was my birthday and my partner's great effort to make it good evening for us, unfortunately they ruined it for us. Thanks salt family for one of the worst experiences on a...
Read moreSalt is one of the best restaurants that I’ve been to in all of Kathmandu, it’s fine dining with a laid-back feel. The whole restaurant is full of greenery and it’s really well designed. The layout makes it feel very open and all of the furniture seems very high-end.
My wife had the stuffed chicken breast And she said that it was perfectly cooked and while the dish itself was very western, the stuffing had a lot of Napali touches that went perfect with the dish.
I had the grilled pork chop, super simple with some applesauce, though the pork chop itself did not need it because it was perfectly cooked and not dry in the slightest.
The veggies that came on the side with both of our meals were perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were amazing.
For starters, we had the Vietnamese Spring rolls, and they were so delicious that I ended up ordering a second platter after I had finished my main course. As well as the cheesy fries (which were good as well)
what really excited us is the gluten-free almond chocolate cake. I cannot have gluten whatsoever and this cake was flat out amazing. Usually gluten-free desserts are either too dry or overly sweet to compensate for the fact that they taste kind of terrible, but this was absolutely not in the slightest. Semi sweet, with little bits of almond and pomegranate sprinkled on top, this is probably my favorite cake I’ve ever had.
All in all my wife and I will definitely be back here, and this will be a new regular date spot for us.
Tldr : go to salt, its delicious and safe for people with serious...
Read moreIt is an Ok-ish place. For the quality of food they provide, the price is not resonable. The only satisfying thing i found from the items I ordered were the drinks, but even they weren't amazing, just mediocre. Just my opinion, but if you are asking for a high price for the food and drinks, then i expect them to be top-notch. The place is neat with a good atmosphere. It was quiet when I visited and there weren't many customers probably because it was a week day. So i liked the queit and chill vibe going on. I could say that anyone wanting a quiet place to relax and read a book, work, or go with friends and family for conversations would probably like this place. The best part about the visit was customer service. The server that took care of us was really a great guy. From the moment we entered the venue, everyone greeted us with warm smile to Every time the server brought the food, there was always a smile on the staffs face. This is the type of customer service that really brightens up the experience for customers. Really appreciate their...
