Restaurant On The Rock Aalsmeer — Restaurant in Aalsmeer

We were sat at a dirty table even though having a reservations. Waiting for the first aperitif took around 30 minutes, they forgot that we ordered two so after an hour when I asked about it they just started preparing it, telling me the bar with aperitifs will be closed in 5 minutes (when I ordered an hour ago). Maybe it would be better if I wouldn't ask about the second snack - the oysters were not fresh! They were already not moving. And eating not fresh oysters can be very dangerous. My partner who was with me is already sick for a 3rd day.

Finally, for the dinner we waited another hour, because they told us kitchen is closed right now, but nobody told us that while making a reservations and, of course, to a restaurant you come to eat.

I'll add it was not busy, the restaurant was almost empty so everything shouldn't take so long.

Food? Beyond the oysters it was good, but not delicious. For the money we paid we were expecting something better.

One big plus is the view, but definitely will not come back...

Delicious lunchtime food with a superb veranda view.

Visiting with a friend, we were nicely greeted by friendly staff. It appeared the the place was hosting a party (anniversary?) at the same time so we explained to the staff that we we not with the party and needed to leave the location in under 45-minutes. We were assured that if we had a single course lunch, we'd achieve that goal.

We were shown to a choice of tables on the terrace with a tranquil view of the waters of Westernderplas. The superb weather helped to enhance this lovely location but I noticed too that the dining area could also be covered if needed.

Two Uitsmijters and (alcohol-free) beers were ordered, the beers arriving chilled within a couple of minutes and the food arriving about ten minutes after that.

Three tasty fresh eggs and meat served on thickly-cut bread were consumed with pleasure and a bill of €27 was not at all bad for this lovely dining experience.

Fantastic place.. we were there on sunny day, Saturday, so the sun might have been too strong on the terrace. They also have shaded spots, though. And unfortunately not serving inside, which we would prefer after walking on the sun. We came in without reservation, but staff was very friendly and asked us to come back in 30 minutes. That was not a problem, the area is nice and we could walk on the small beach. After around 30 min we came back, the couple in front of us was refused- no space. So i thought, that means no place for us either. But the lady kept a table for us and we could have lunch. It was a great surprise, actually, she couldn't know if we will come back at all ;) Food was delicious, views were nice, you look over the Aalsmeer lake, you can watch boats and small waves. I will be back (with reservation) for sure!! Service was quick and always making sure we had everything. That's how you treat...
