Afrikaans Restaurant Seni — Restaurant in Almere

Its hard to come by an Afrikaans restaurant in Almere. This restaurant is unique with a friendly owner. She asked me to give a review. I can say that decoration could improve, especially the table and seats were terrible. The menu is too short. After one visit I feel like I tried everything on the menu, so no reason to come back or is it... I ordered a mix of different meals and got after a short while a beautifull presented dish. I were expected to eat without cutlery. Ok, I tried to keep my fingers clean at first but everything I ate gave me explosions of colorfull tastes, which I rarely experienced before. The unique approach to sweet, sour, salt, bitter and savorin gave me thrills, and there I was as a child with dirty fingers on my right hand mad that the meal was finished, perhaps eating without cutlery or chopsticks helped me to experience eating otherworldly. Came here because of the raving reviews, left early because of the lack of attention and service. When we arrived there were 3 people behind the bar, but no welcome or hello from anyone. When we mentioned we booked a table we were met with shaking heads. The hostess then found our booking and reluctantly made space for us without uttering a word.

Once we got the menu and wanted to order, it took ages for someone to get our order. We ordered the chef’s menu which was good, but we expected it to be better for €50.

Once we finished our main, they cleared our table and weren’t offered any more drinks or dessert. After waiting for 15 min we just got up to pay. Absolutely fantastic!!! Food was superb! Everything was so delicious from the starter to the dessert. Starting already from the place, nice and very cosy, and then I could see the old african lady working in the kitchen (and at this very point, I knew already we were going to eat something special) We got 5 mixed dishes from the chef and it was the best choice we could get, I personally went to collect every bit left in the dish for how tasty it was. Last but not least, the dessert... Please order the Baklava, it's the best one I have ever eaten in my life. I know for sure I HAVE to come back eating in this place. Please follow my tips and come to this restaurant, you won't regret it, I swear.
