Nikkei Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Aruba

One of the worst sushi restaurants we have ever been to! If you are a true sushi eater, you will know immediately after the first bite if it’s fresh. We ordered the tuna sashimi and it was super old. We also had the poke bowl special and all the fish in the bowl was old. Additionally, we ordered the chef special sushi roll and was hoping for something “special” but was just a regular roll with some random pieces of cooked shrimp, Kani crab mixed in spicy mayo. Furthermore, the service was horrible. We were literally the ONLY table there (2 adults and 2 kids) but the food took at least an hour to come out. The waiter did not come by to provide any updates and just left us sitting there waiting and wondering what is going on and why the food was taking so long. We were about to get up and just leave but he brought out the food just as we were getting up. The best thing there was the kids beef katsu and that was at best just mediocre. The atmosphere was decent though with the live music from the adjacent Mexican restaurant. Overall, bad food and service. If you are new to sushi or prefer more basic sushi, this restaurant may be an okay option. But if you are looking for “sushi” sushi then save your money and find another place. I went here for a date with my partner. It was a nice date. The service was great. The staff was very nice but a bit slow. The food wasn't that great. We had the Mongolian beef and it was very salty. The ramen soup wasn't hot it was warm and the noodles were soggy. I also ordered the fried rice and on the menu it said that it would be served with bean sprouts and I asked for extra. The server told me they didn't have bean sprouts, the dish isn't served with bean sprouts. That was weird because why is it on the menu then? Anyway I asked for extra green onions and didn't get any. The flavor of the fried rice was good but it was a bit dry. The room we were seated in was dark and a bit stuffy. We had to ask the server to wipe the table for us and my partner got an allergic reaction from the pillow of the couch we were seated in. I wouldn't go there again for a date atleast. May 25, 2030 Although I have been to Aruba several times, I had never eaten sushi there. I saw this sushi bar when I googled, read the menu and then many of the reviews and decided to take a chance. There were 6 of us and only 5 of us eat sushi. The customer service was top notch! Very friendly and attentive. Romeo Reyes was our server and we got the best! The mixed drinks were some of the best I’ve had. The bartender even came over to our table to make sure we were happy. We had octopus(ceviche) ,tuna tataki, cali rolls, dragon rolls, sweet and sour chicken and a few other dishes. We actually reordered the tuna tataki! It was the best I’ve ever had! The prices were very fair considering the exceptional quality of food. None of us had anything negative to say about this restaurant.
