I’ve been patronizing this place for the last 2 years and never felt compelled to leave a review. Unfortunately this time around we experienced the worst food from them. In all over several days we ordered burgers, wings , beef soup , fried shrimp box all on diff days. It’s important to note that I get the beef soup everytime but this time the soup was either way too salty or watery and not appetizing , it went from a fresh taste to a frozen one or something idk , the ingredients inside were inconsistent and it tasted as if they changed their beef used in the soup. It almost gives like a canned beef saltiness and taste. The wings were very dry with no flavor that was shocking. , the burger was not only extremely dry but after waiting 20 minutes we had to leave and go back twice because we kept getting home and realizing the order was wrong until the 3rd time we just got our money back and went to bed hungry. it was supposed to be sauce on the side no bacon simple enough but we ended up wasting an hour and lots of gas trying to simply eat dinner that night. But the son was really apologetic and again we really appreciate him and the chefs great customer service despite the food issues. The shrimp was actually good. Wings dry no flavor. Customer service lacks heavily now compared to previous years as the front is now operated by the children of the owner, they let it be known that they are either clearly tired of working or they just don’t care because they feel they will make money regardless. I will say the boys are much more professional than the daughter , they communicate they are friendly at front counter but the kitchen kid in the back is the one that messed our orders up every time as the other lady cook has been the one there for all the years we’ve come and we love her to pieces ! She should be the face she’s always smiling and working hard ! The daughter isn’t friendly she doesn’t like to answer questions she will touch cash then go grab food not washing her hands she sits on her phone the entire time you walk up , while ordering and after , she got offended when I asked her to wash her hands or to not prepare my soup as she stuck her whole hand in the cup while grabbing it and again she’s touching dirty money cards her phone etc like in America front worker can’t go into the kitchen if they do ,they wash hands in front kitchen to show everyone the place is sanitary. Also I guess she makes the soup herself but maybe she’s tired of making it since she claims she’s been making it since she was 14 because it’s just nowhere as close to as good as it was last year or the year before, barely genuine or fresh corn I dang near have to beg for it when it should come in the soup I don’t want just meet and broth so they need tonfighre out a better portion control for soup . I bought it 4 times hoping to experience the old soup days and couldn’t even eat a bite other than the first time so I guess it’s safe to say we have to find a new spot to eat. We appreciated the memories we created while it lasted. Plus we always tip even spending $50 US nightly when we come so we bring some nice money into the business we stay 2 weeks each time so do the math but again no more , the food and wait just isn’t good enough to match the prices and lack of customer service mainly from the daughter and the lack of sanitation on her end. I get sick very easily and can’t risk it. I don’t think wait is long personally plus they have bathrooms on site which is nice which is why I gave 4 stars...
Read moretrolling through Oranjestad, I stumbled upon Candela Food Trailer, buzzing with activity. It promises fair prices and daily service from 7 PM, attracting a diverse crowd. While the service was average, be aware if you have dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, options for allergies, gluten-free needs, or vegetarian diets with strict cross-contamination concerns might be limited.
The menu boasts popular sauces like Candela and garlic, although some found them a bit too salty for their taste. The protein portions were decent, but certain items can occasionally run out. However, the spicy chicken sandwich was a definite highlight: flavorful and satisfying. The fries, while decent, could also benefit from being less salty, especially when paired with the sauces.
Overall, Candela Food Trailer isn't bad for a quick bite at a fair price. They cater to a broad audience, but keep in mind the limited options for specific dietary needs and the potential...
Read moreI have no complaints about my first visit but when I went back for the second time. First I asked specifically If I could just have a deep fried shrimp basket instead of the honey garlic shrimp on the menu. Woman told me yes. However that wasn't what I got. I got sautéed shrimp. I asked for a little ketchup on the fries and she squeezes out a ridiculous glob of it. Then refuses me a bag to carry it in. I should have demanded my money back but didnt want to risk a confrontation and possibility of arrest as a non citizen. Staff on this day wasn't welcoming at all and I should've found somewhere else to eat given the ANTI-BLACK vibes and energy I was picking up...
