One of the best meals we’ve had in Aruba, and in the world!! Where else can you support the ocean reefs in such a delicious way?
The location is easy to find in Google Maps, and parking is all around the little space. I wasn’t quite sure what to order at the walk up window, but the folks there were beyond sweet, patiently answering all of my questions about fish wings, fish balls and whether or not the spines are still venomous (they’re not).
Around back we sat in a shaded garden with high-top tables. The fish is flaky and light, and fried to perfection - think Friday Fish Fry. They have fish wings - which I had to try - are the deep fried fins of the lionfish. When fried, the spines crisp up and have a kettle cooked potato chip like crunch. The fish nuggets are smallish pieces of fish, and the fish balls are made of small bits of fish mixed with seasoned dough, similar to...
Read moreAfter reading his posts on social media and reviews, I desperately wanted to be sure my friends and I had one meal here. We arrived today and were able to have an early dinner. Yes the place is quite..rustic...but the owner is soooo very friendly and conversational and educated us about lionfish. Dinner was soooo good! My husband and I had the snack platter but our friends had the platter which included lionfish "wings." We all agreed this was an amazing find and fantastic way to start out vacation. The fish is incredibly mild tasting and is served with a homemade tartar sauce and fries and little salad. If you're in Aruba on a Saturday, please stop by for some of his...
Read moreThis was awesome - I was lucky enough to come across this on Google maps on a Saturday morning and was excited to have Lionfish for the first time ever that night. It's only open on Saturday's (for now), so I'm really happy my wife and I were able to get there. My wife doesn't even like fish, but she loved this.
The owner mentioned he wants to be open two days per week, but he's working on how to catch more Lionfish. Plus, catching more lionfish is really important as they are an ecologically devastating invasive species in Aruba. That being the case, I love supporting this business even more.
Very worth the trip if you happen to be here...
