The smoothie bar is visually appealing and clearly designed to attract tourists, but I feel compelled to share a serious concernâespecially for fellow locals and families.
During my visit with my children, we were met with behavior from the owner that was discriminatory and racially insensitive. One of the first things he made clear was that the bar stools were ânot for kidsââa strange and unnecessary comment, especially since my children are old enough to sit independently. It immediately set a tone of exclusion.
When I calmly addressed the issue, hoping for dialogue or understanding, the response was immediate defensiveness, followed by threats to call the police. There was no space for reflection, accountability, or emotional intelligenceâonly escalation.
I cannot speak to the quality of the food or drinks, as our experience was cut short. But I believe that respectful treatment should be the baseline for any business, regardless of who walks through the door.
If Bonaire had a functioning anti-discrimination office or reporting mechanism, I would have formally filed a case. Unfortunately, such a provision is still in development.
This review is not written lightly. I hope othersâespecially those from the local communityâfeel empowered to share their experiences and make informed choices. A beautiful storefront means little without basic respect and...
Read moreUnfortunately my wife and I on our anniversary trip were not able to experience the food after driving 30 minutes and walking another 15 to get to the place. She found it on tik tok as she does on our island adventures. The man behind the counter swiftly responded to my order of a bagel breakfast sandwich with "no bagels." I then proceeded to ask my wife about the remaining bread choices as I was unfamiliar with a certain choice. Mind you there was nobody behind us in line. I proceed to ask for an english muffin breakfast sandwich with extra crispy bacon. Then my wife orders the same but asks for her muffin extra toasted. This is when I was like a deer in headlights. The man says "we make things how we make them and we are not going to be able to help you." I said "what" and he repeated that he can't serve us. We walked away and said " what the f just happened?" Never in my life have I been refused service. If you knew my wife and I and believe me anyone can attest we are respectful, kind and compassionate people. My wife as angry as I was told me to pray for him as he was probably having a bad day. Out of a negative experience can always come a positive because we headed on over to Between 2 Buns and had one of the best breakfasts and service I've had on the...
Read moreItâs been a while I donât do a review and I must say I found a hidden gem in Bonaire! First of all, itâs located in a nice area where you have fresh air and cover if it rains. The service, what a friendly team! The owners are there to assist you directly and they are super friendly, they take the time to give you suggestions and I was not disappointed with the choice I made. I had the Blanche (Chicken Burger with buffalo and blue cheese), it was really tasteful and you can tell is fresh, the bun and the ingredients are just right, the flavor was a nice balance of everything and I literally gulped it! With short time in port the service was really quick so Iâm glad I stopped here. If youâre staying for a long time I suggest you stop by more than once, they have burgers (chicken and beef), hot dogs and a very nice cocktail menu. I definitely recommend. Oh and the pricing...
