Restaurant MEQAN — Restaurant in Capelle aan den IJssel

Meqan,

It was a surprise to me because I drive past it every day (due to work) and never noticed it.

Meqan is located in CapelleXL (Business area) right on the main road.

Once inside it was a quiet atmosphere (later it became busier) and we could sit wherever we wanted. Immediately seated in the middle of the restaurant and started to get used to the atmosphere.

We were warmly welcomed and guided to a table that we chose ourselves.

We started with meze mix for 2 people and 2 drinks (mojito strawberry) and warm Turkish bread. DELICIOUS

While enjoying (towards the end of the meze) we received our main menu (Spareribs and Marinate Mix). The food was DELICIOUS. To us it looked like an ART OF WORK from the chef. We really enjoyed it a lot and actually wanted to go another round. However, of course we didn't do that because we also had to pay attention to our calories.

We are not only talking about the good, but of course there are also points that could have been improved. This includes some staff who, for example, can come by as soon as they see when your glass is empty or can make eye contact so that you want to order something more. Assigning guests (group A groups) a place (who arrive later) so that they can sit tactically in a good place and not get in the way of the kitchen. -Smile more than just be serious Walk past tables once to ask if everything is to your liking

Lovely atmosphere and really nice restaurant however something different can be said over the food and service.

The waiter left me a little confused. I told him my chicken taco’s didn’t taste fresh. Chicken was really chewy and seemed stale. Told the waiter he took one of the taco’s away.

At the end the bill came and the taco’s was on the bill. When I questioned him why the full price was on there even though he took one of the tacos away he felt confused. I felt as if they should’ve either.

Discounted the tacos as he took one away and never replaced it. Never took the taco away, apologised and offered something else

P.s the chicken skewers as part of the ‘Chicken Sate’ was raw.

Kind note to the chef, please check and double check the chicken before serving. Don’t just smother it...

Carpacchio Ossenhaas : 7,5 erg lekker , smaak explosie is aanwezig. En geen standaard rundercarpaccio Torpedo Shrimps: 6,8 gewoon lekker niet speciaal.

Hoofdgerecht: Vleesplateau voor 2 : 35 euro pp. mals vlees niet droog. Gleed letterlijk van het bot af bij de spareribs. Goed gekruid vlees. Sausjes waren lekker. Ervaring was mooi met droog ijs. Patat was zoals gewoonlijk patat niks meer niks minder.

Toetje was erg lekker en leuk gedecoreerd wat voor beide toetjes geldt.

Het klinkt allemaal heel erg lekker zult u nu denken? Toch waren wij twee van mening dat er iets miste. Dit restaurant was uiteindelijk toch niks voor ons. Het is een Turks restaurant waar geen alcohol geschonken wordt en alleen halal vlees geserveerd word. Dit was beide geen probleem voor ons. En wij voelde ons niet helemaal welkom. We hebben een uur bijna gewacht op het voorgerecht terwijl de mensen links en rechts van ons wel al eten kregen die later besteld hadden. We hebben het toetje besteld en toen we het kregen nog 5 minuten moeten wachten op bestek terwijl er een serveerster bij de bestekbak stond te tikken op dr telefoon. Wij waren ook ongeveer de enige nederlanders denk ik en dat viel op. Niet zozeer dat ik het restaurant hierop afreken, maar het voelde gewoon alsof wij niet compleet welkom waren als anderen. Het kan zo zijn dat dit gewoon een momentopname is of niet.

Conclusie: de gastvrijheid heeft dit bezoekje aan Meqan geleid tot een compleet dikke onvoldoende en ik kom hier zeker niet meer terug.
