Equus — Restaurant in Curaçao

This place is only opened for dinner on Fridays and is supposed to be packed during the entire time, but maybe due to a festival going on at the same time, it was relatively empty when we got there near opening. This place looks and feels like you're eating in someone's backyard garden area. You get more than enough bread to eat along with your skewers which can be 10 shrimp, chicken, steak, a 3 & 3 chicken and steak combo and veggies. One skewer of meat and one of veggies is more than enough food for two people especially using the delicious garlic bread to collect the meat that is hung in front of you after it's been cooked over coals at the front of the restaurant which was nice to watch as you enjoy your drink and the always present and calming Curacao breeze as the place is...

Went for the first time to Equus to try the cuisine and plan future events (I am a event organizer). Thoroughly disappointing. We ordered a bottle of wine and ONE skerwer of shrimps. 50 minutes later after finishing our BOTTLE in a half full restaurant, and seeing other newcomers being served before us, I decided to pay my wine bill and walked out without eating. Didnt feel like waiting another 30 minutes to get food at 10:30pm. Staff and management didnt seem to care or were not concerend. They were too busy conversing. Guess when you have enough business, new clients are never a priority. Too bad, Curacao has many other more economical choices with better service. Wish the Equus family good success. Really wanted to like those place :( we heard good things, the vibe was great, the drinks were great and the service was great. But, unfortunately the food just really was pretty surprisingly terrible. We ordered one of each vegetable, chicken and beef skewers - the beef was very dense, chewy and overcooked, also it came pretty much cold. The chicken, although it looked good, was overcooked and rubbery, also cold. The vegetable skewer is the only one that was ok, still lacked basic seasoning.
