Landhuis Brakkeput Mei Mei restaurant — Restaurant in Curaçao

We dined here twice while on vacation. The first night our meal was okay but the service was unorganized. We were sat next to the bar which was disappointing since we had reservations and thought we would have had a better experience. The waiters came by our table all evening getting drinks so we were not able to have an enjoyable meal.

Our last meal we returned thinking we would give them another chance because they could have been having an off night. My husband and I returned for Thursday night’s Lobster night. It was a horrible experience from the moment we sat down. The manager took our drink and meal order. After 15 min we had not seen our drinks which were only water and iced tea. We asked another waiter for them and he brought them over. They were on the bar waiting.

It began raining so we took cover under one of the nearby tents that other diners were under and waited while the rain passed. No one was around to wipe the rain from our chairs. We did enjoy the salad bar. After a while it began to rain again and we took cover under the tent again. This time the manager sat several of us indoors. It took another 10 minutes to get two cups of water.

My lobster tail tasted like burnt charcoal. My husband had the lobster thermidor and said it was okay. It was so disappointing from the service to the meal that we couldn’t wait to get out of there. The third visit was challenging to say the least. My parents had enjoyed their first two visits but when we went on a Monday night the restaurant was so full that the kitchen and the staff were unable to keep up with the orders. We received our meal in stages. The first dishes came out an hour and a half after we had arrived. The third dish came out 15 minutes after that. The fourth dish came out 15 minutes later. The food was fine but it was very difficult to enjoy our meal waiting for the food to arrive. When we asked the staff and then the manager to take off an appropriate amount from the bill we were told that they could only manage a 10% discount. At this point we had been in the restaurant for over two hours and we felt that this was an incomplete acceptance of their failure. Finally, we had assumed that there would be salsa dancing as that was what was advertised. We did not ever see salsa dancing. The staff is very friendly with clients. On Friday the restaurant has little entertainment which was very pleasant. The ambiance was very nice as well. Unfortunately service was extremely slow. I ordered an orange juice. It took the server 15 minutes to bring it to the table. I got the menu, but it took a while before I could order. I decided to order a soup as I thought I would have to wait less since I had only one hour before going to my next appointment. I asked the server for the soup of the day, but he was not aware of the type of soup they served that day. After waiting for 15 additional minutes I finally got the soup I ordered.
