BOATHOUSE — Restaurant in De Ronde Venen

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at the Boat House restaurant, a place where exceptional cuisine and a magical atmosphere come together in perfect harmony. As I enjoyed an extraordinary sushi dish, I watched the sun gently set over a tranquil harbor, painting the sky with soft hues of pink and lavender. The reflection of boats on the calm water, as captured in the photo, added to the peaceful charm of the evening.

The service was impeccable, with staff attending to every detail with grace. The chef, working in an open kitchen right before my eyes, added an engaging element to the experience, making it feel both intimate and sophisticated. Even though I arrived without a reservation, the entire experience flowed effortlessly.

This was my very first solo date, and it turned out to be a wise and enriching journey inward. I indulged in a perfectly balanced meal: a plate of superb sushi, a fresh bowl of edamame, a glass of decent white wine, and a small glass of Peroni. All of this for just 31 Euros—an incredible balance between price and quality.

The food is extremely overpriced, they had a lunch menu with a mention “small” but I didn’t expect small is a pizza size of my palm (note I’m a petite girl) for 10€. Additionally, the pizza was too doughy (most likely the temp of baking is off) and wasn’t crusty. The dough was perhaps also underproofed as it had no flavor. The flavors of the toppings were also bland. We have also had a burger for 10.5€. They did say small but the description “mini” would be more appropriate, you would serve this size for guests as antipasti during buffet type of serving. No side dishes came with it. The flavors were not anything special either. We couldn’t see the concept of fusing Asian and Italian being realized by the chefs. There were neither Asian flavors nor Italian. The table next to us openly started googling for a different place when seeing our food on the table.

The staff is okay. Not particularly friendly or attentive. Too busy because of the crowd.

Overall, good exterior and location but the content is disappointing. Not a bad place to come chat with friends over drinks but...

Very nice place to enjoy some great food alongside the water, they have a menu that really stands out compared to other options in town. I went for lunch and ordered the dirty fries with rendang, and I can say it was fantastic ( especially the rendang as it should be ) they also offer poke bowls, my friend had a pinsa romana with salmon, which was also amazing.
