Hotel Restaurant Hestia — Restaurant in Eijsden-Margraten

Greek restaurant with some rooms above with separate access up stairs (no lift). If you arrive early it may be closed with no-one there but there's a small bar opposite to sit and wait. Do not park on Diepstraat – it's reserved for locals with fines for others. Parking bays opposite side-door entrance to rooms are free but limited in number. Good sized room. Nice, freshly prepared breakfast. Evening meal in restaurant was generous and very good (Greek). Attentive, friendly staff – Nico welcomed us and spoke good English, explained all we needed to know. Maastricht is only 6 miles away and easy to get to by car or bike. Cross the river Meuse on the small (foot/bike) ferry for a hilly ride in on the Belgian side or stay on the Dutch side for an easy, flat ride in. Eijsden is a village with several cafés, bars, restaurants and shops/supermarkets. Far enough from Maastricht to be quiet and calm, close enough for easy access to the city or the countryside around. Had dinner at Hestia last night. Very traditional food from northern Greece. The food was delicious - nostima. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Great value for money for high quality Greek cuisine. If you can't see something on the menu that you'd like, ask, because they may be able to make it. They do a great vanilla or chocolate cake for celebrations if you order ahead. They also cater for children.
