Food
We were 4 people and ordered a variety of dishes so we could mix and eat from each one of them.
The order: 1 plate Narenj palaw with chicken breast 1 plate Qabeli palaw with lamb meat 2 side dishes, Kofta and Qorme gosht 1 plate Chopan kabab (grilled Turkey, Lamb and Beef).
The food tasted good but we were served very small portions. I have never been to a restaurant where they would charge you so much for so less. Normally, when you go to Afghan restaurants you are confident that you will receive a full plate. So full that at least two people could eat from. So my husband complained about the small portion, the owner was rather frustrated than apologetic. When he brought us another plate for free, he started saying that we should order 4 plates of rice when there are 4 people. I said in Dari: "Uncle we are Afghan people from Mazar, this is not the way. These plates don't even fill one person." He disagreed of course and walked away. The Qabeli Palaw was nothing like we Afghans know. All the rice served were the same just with different "toppings". Normally, with the main courses you get salad, right? Guess how many we got, just one. We should have gotten 2 at least because of 2 plates rice. Anyways, we turned a blind eye to that. The bread was no Afghan bread unfortunately. And they also used the microwave to prepare the food. Don't know if all the food was microwaved but the rice was for sure.
Service
We were served well, but there was not really a connection. No warmth in the service. I read in another review that the owner serves food himself, that is true but he didn't serve us. He served other ethnicities but not us.
Atmosphere
At first it was nice, we liked the interior design and were talking about it with each other. The moment the food was served the whole atmosphere went down. My husband lost his appetite really and my sister was feeling ashamed of the hospitality. In our Afghan culture hospitality stands very high, this was very disappointing. We always make sure our guests leave with a full stomach and positive mind. But the way the owner dealt with our shock and complain was far from our culture. We paid and left to never visit Bamiyan...
Read moreThis was the worst place we visited. I would not recommend it to anyone. The food is not authentic. In the menu it said Afghan naan bread and salad will be given with all main course dishes. But they one small bowl of salad (see picture) for the whole table of 8 people. Also the bread they gave is not naan bread. It can be bought from any Arabic food store.
It took 1 and half hours to prepare our food and still half of the orders were wrong and when we complained about it the staff's behavior was extremely rude. They even didn't like if you ask them for water or anything.
On top of all this, they gave us a hand written bill to avoid taxes and were initially not willing to give an electronic invoice and we had to argue for another 5 minutes to get an authentic electronic bill.
Now that I have looked at the reviews in detail I noticed that most of the non European people faced similar experiences of slow and...
Read moreWe went as a group for dinner. The old man - think the owner was rude and impatient while taking the order n asked us to write our order in his notepad. We felt so unwelcome there.
There was no mention of kitchen closing and only after asking for a repeat of a starter they replied that the kitchen is closed. The main dishes that we received were incomplete and the bread they give was some cheap wrap from the supermarket. The only relief is that the chicken and rice dishes were tasty. Quantity is too little for what we pay and you need to spend at least 35€ to get your stomach filled.
We will never visit this place again neither will recommend this place to anyone. Absolute waste of self respect,...
