Strandpaviljoen Paal 10 — Restaurant in Goeree-Overflakkee

The menu is more varied and better than all the other beach restaurants. It also feels like a restaurant and not just a fast food beach shack. However, the service is poor. The waitress wasn’t unfriendly but looked thoroughly miserable (what happened to service with a smile??). It took 45mins to place a food order and when it did arrive we had to go in search of our own cutlery rather than let it go cold whilst trying to get someone’s attention. We went as a family of five for dinner and the food was ok but not great. The garlic prawns could’ve been much better but were lazily served in a dull garlic oil with no imagination from the chef to make it a memorable dish. The prawn pasta with lobster cream sounded delicious but turned out to be so bland I couldn’t finish it (Chef, some chilli flakes or lemon zest or anything to add a kick please!!). One very RUDE waiter... My family and I had dinner here on 8 April around 17:30. It was quite busy as it was the Easter weekend. We were received by one very rude waiter when we entered. We asked if there was a free table, the waiter replied only one word in an aggressive tone "NO", and walked away without pausing for even a second. We were all taken aback by this attitude. A waitress nearby saw this and our stunned faces. She was very kind to come forward, and asked us to follow her as she led us to our table. It turned out that there were still a few tables available. If the restaurant management is reading this message, the ill-mannered waiter can be identified as the only man with glasses that evening. I've visited the strandpaviljoen paal 10 with my father today. At the first try, we were not able to get a table even though some tables were free. The staff told us that we won't be served at those table, for no obvious reason. We tried it some hours later and we were lucky. On the picture you can see the calamari & kibbeling dish and the sharing snacks. Both tasted freshly fried and good! Lateron, we ordered 2 mixed drinks (personalized, thanks for that!), but unluckily one drink was spilled over my father and his smartphone.
