Proeverz — Restaurant in Gorinchem

tl;dr: maybe it's because I'm not Dutch, but... Meh

Found this place through Google maps and decided to go there for a bite before exploring Gorinchem. I didn't pay attention and didn't realize it was inside some sort of shopping mall.

My sandwich was absolutely drowning in sauce, which overpowered any flavor I would have gotten from it. I couldn't even eat it with my hands. The brown bread was toasty and crunchy. I have no idea how the chicken tasted, since all I could feel was sauce.

I got a brokking for dessert and it was light and airy, if a bit too sweet.

Service is usually good in the Netherlands, and this place is no exception. Our food took too long to get to us, probably the kitchen is to blame. Prices were on the cheap side.

It wasn't a bad experience, but not somewhere I'd be eager to...

It was by happy chance that I found this restaurant. I was having a 'bad legs day' as I walked from my hotel on the outskirts of Gorinchem city centre and so I stopped in for a sandwich and tea. It was perhaps the most delicious sandwich I have ever had: thinly sliced beef together with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles and more on a warm, freshly baked, seed encrusted whole wheat bun (they call the sandwich the Ribeye). Very loosely translated, the name of the restaurant would be Taste the Freshness, and that you certainly could! They also have an ice-cream parlour, but I restrained myself. Service was fast and the staff...

Ziet er leuk en gezellig uit en het eten is altijd goed, laat ik daarmee beginnen. Vorige week gereserveerd voor een lunch voor een kinderfeestje. Bij de reservering al kenbaar gemaakt dat de kids een lunchbox zouden nemen (frietjes met snack, drinken en verrassing). Op de dag zelf vandaag bleek dat er alleen mini frikandellen als snack gekozen konden worden. Dat vond ik wel heel beperkt, want er waren ook moslim kinderen bij, bovendien vindt niet iedereen dat lekker. Ik sprak toen uit dat ik dat wel een beperkte keuze vond, en toen kon ik ook nog kiezen uit kipvingers. Werd ook niet iedereen enthousiast van, dus allemaal maar poffertjes gekozen. Toen het pakje drinken werd gebracht, waren er nog maar 2 aardbei en de andere 5 moesten sinaasappel nemen. Even later zag ik in het restaurant nog wel rode pakjes uitgedeeld worden. Al met al een beetje jammer. De reservering was al een week bekend. Ik had er iets meer van verwacht.
