Ideal neighbor — Restaurant in Groningen

Verily, I must express my deep disappointment with the esteemed establishment known as "de Ideale Buurman," a snackery that hath fallen far from its erstwhile glory. Lo, the fare that was once considered palatable is now but a sorry semblance of sustenance, lacking in taste and quality. The portions are meager, and the prices exorbitant. Alas, the service is lacking, with surly attendants who showeth little care for the patrons. The once-famed crispy frites are now sodden and greasy, and the burgers are but a travesty, bereft of flavor and succulence. Verily, I have been sorely disappointed by this establishment, and I shall not partake of its fare again. Stumbled upon this place with my sister after some shopping nearby. We ordered a kapsalon and some sort of chicken fillet.

Kapsalon was a good portion. It was quite delicious. The kipfilet didn't really look like the one on the menu to be honest. It was just ok.

We were treated well by the guy that works there whom I assume is the owner so I was quite surprised to read such bad reviews on his service 🙈

I could say, he could have been a bit more classier around his customers cause he was talking loud af with a friend (?) when we were there but we weren't really bothered by it personally.

Anyways, it's an alright place to grab a quick snack. Not the best but...

The rudest and rather unhygienic place in Groningen! Member of staff went out of his way to be unfriendly and unhelpful. Thinking we didn't speak Dutch, he was joking about us to other "regular' customers. In addition, the hygiene was not up to scratch. The 'cook' would sniffle in his hands and handle food right after without washing his hands. Metal implements that were dropped, were just picked up and not washed. Although we had already paid for our meals, we decided to simply leave without it, in order not to catch an upset stomach and to not put up with the incredible...
