Restaurant Long Island — Restaurant in Haarlemmermeer

Located at a lake, which creates a nice atmosphere. Lovely cosy decorations and interior. Their menu is published in a magazine style. The bread was nice with garlic butter and olive oil with some... dark liquid? you'd have to pipette into the olive oil and then dip your bread into it. One of us ordered shrimps as a starter, but it was a cold starter, which he (and we) didn't expect. The rest of us ordered tomato soup but it was way too salty. We also ordered bitterballen to share. There were two types: Van Dobben and Holtkamp. We ordered the Holtkamp ones (since we are familiar with both, we knew the difference). When it was delivered and one of us ate one, it turned out to be the Van Dobben ones. Which was also visible on the outside. We asked the waitress "Are you sure these are the Holtkamp bitterballen?" "Yes these are the bitterballen" - and we were all thinking: We can see that these are bitterballen -_- But the waitress left. We asked another one and she basically said the same but this time we kept pushing if it was the right TYPE of bitterballen. After finally getting through Van Dobben and Holtkamp are different she finally checked with the kitchen and when she came back they realized a mistake had been made. They did apologize and the Holtkamp bitterballen would now be prepared but this did mean we had to wait longer for our food. This whole issue took up most of our time so this is why I deducted one star. The seafood salad was delicious and very well presented. They have amazing dessert options! Although my experience wasn't the best, I would like to give it a try...

On entering the restaurant, we asked for a table, and the gentleman asked us if we had a table booked, and we said no, then the gentleman put us at a big corner table seems it a table for 6 or 8 people and out of sight and at this point the whole restaurant inside is empty but he tells us (3 people )to sit in the corner and 1min later I aksd one of the waiters why we cannot sit at the outside tables or anywhere else in the restaurant she said no we can sit anywhere inside or outside who told us we cannot sit outside or we can only site in the corner table,she was very nice and smiled and said you can move outside, take it is you read it but that plain and simple rudeness from that staff member he made it clear that we are not welcome and discriminated against us.

One last thing it makes no sense to take drinks order but you don't give us the drinks menu and we were told to order drinks 1st before we can receive the...

It is a nice location however the food and the service were not good.. First, just to bring thr drinks it took more than 30 minutes. The food was delievered quicker after we complained on delays. however, we ordered Sushi tuna as starter and they delivered salmon without even asking us, they simply put it on the table and left. Apparently they run out of tuna and decided to serve something else. At least they could have inform their customers that they did not have the ingredients. The main dish we ordered wass also salmon, which kind of did not go well if your starter is also salmon. However the salmon of the main dish was a frozen fish which was served overlooked and not with a great taste. We also ordered some glasses of wines which were served in a very small portion therefore, overpriced. In general, not a great...
