D'n Berepot — Restaurant in Heusden

Pancakes aren't just for dessert! They have tasty savoury pancakes alongside more sweet pancakes than you can shake a stick at! For young visitors they offer colouring crayons and a picture which they will swap for a cute Minions backpack (correct as at our visit of 29 Sept'18). Really tasty, filling food with choice of soft drinks, beers and other alcoholic drinks. Great place to go for a change. Our B and B hosts had recommended "d'n Berepot" as we wished to experience the Dutch pancake house. If I understood our host they were sure it was the best Pannenkoekenhuis in all of the Netherlands. I cannot tell you if that is in fact the case but it was much better than we had expected. Coming from Canada we did not know what to expect but it was truly delicious. Het is nu 5 weken geleden dat we hier pannenkoeken hebben gegeten, maar we zijn nu alweer aan het kijken wanneer we weer vanuit Amsterdam naar de Berepot kunnen komen voor zo’n geweldige pannenkoek.

Mijn dochter en ik vonden de glutenvrije pannenkoeken van de Berepot altijd al goed (vooral als je dit vergelijkt met andere pannenkoekenrestaurants), maar sinds ons laatste bezoek waren de pannenkoeken deze keer nóg beter - smaakvol, mals en krokant tegelijk, de juiste dikte en de juiste verhouding vulling en garnering.

Ik heb een pannenkoek nog nooit geschaard onder culinaire hoogstandjes, toch kwam de glutenvrije pannenkoek met pulled paddestoelen aardig in de buurt. ;) Ik ben nu wel erg nieuwsgierig geworden naar de andere chef’s specials en waarmee hij de volgende keer gaat verrassen. :D

En trouwens niet alleen mooie woorden voor de chef, maar ook voor de gastvrouw. Zij had oog voor alles. Ze wist precies op welke momenten ze aanwezig moest zijn en hield ondertussen alles ongemerkt netjes en schoon (oh sorry, ik had het wel gemerkt, maar ik let gewoon op dat soort dingen).

Al met al heb ik niets dan lof over ons laatste bezoek. En de volgende wordt...
