Surely a beautiful restaurant in an amazing location . The stuff is friendly but no service at all and super expensive . We arrived around 21, we didn't receive a particular welcome, just young people running around and the guy that looks like the manager just standing there in one side. We asked if was possible to have dinner, they answer yes . We sitted down and we noticed that after we scanned the menu' QR code just bites and drinks where available on their App/Website . So we asked for the dinner menu? The waitress said I bring you the menu'for the food. Ok finally with the menu'in our hands, to read them you need the phone lights because the outside terrace is completely dark, finally we ordered the food . 5 minutes the lady back sorry the kitchen is close ! She didn't know that the kitchen was close, apparently it closed before that evening . On Google map is written open until 22, but eventually the kitchen could close at 21,21:15,21:30,21:45 etc. When you order the beers if you want a large beer say that otherwise they are bringing you the small one, again the service should be important but I know for my experience that unfortunately often around Utrecht the price to go out is really high and the service received is under the average . The prices are like a find dining restaurant but the Down Under has a Pub menu', people maybe get excited for the wakeboard park and beach they have on the lake so the prices go up . Small details are important and make always the difference ! For sure a place like that could be better managed !

We went here for dinner. I digged the atmosphere in the building and my daughter liked the design and the shark heads on the wall. Over the evening we were helped by a lot of different staff, and although ordering went quickly and smooth, the impressions they gave was as if they all started this week: Didn't remember the monthly specials, one spilled a drink over my wife, another one dropped glasses in the bar area.. came very clumsy across. The main dishes were nice, the desserts a bit underwhelming. The kids menu had a large salad on the side which didn't look very appetising. I also found it weird they gave one small fries and one small side salad for 4 people. All in all a decent evening but wouldn't drag my family here again probably.

I don’t understand why people so generous to this place? For 4 euro you’ll get: - one toilet (only 2 cabins for both sex!) - no dressing rooms - no umbrellas(try to find shadow under the tree) - no food after 5 o’clock! So we wanted to reserve table at the restaurant by phone - we were told it’s impossible, please come to spot. We came in 5-7 mins - it was full! On top of this, restaurant isn’t connected to beach at all. And keep in mind that shore line is really narrow and water is dirty because of mud! So far - it’s the worst place I have visited in Holland!

Completely ruined our family day

To help others not face the same disappointment as we did. Do not bring your pet, dog. It is not advertised on their website or social media pages.

We arrived on May 1st, 2025 after 1.5 hours drive commute (3 hours in total) to Down Under beach, the young staff was rude and declined us entry. No signs anywhere except ONLY at the paid-entrance gate.

We told her that it was unfair to not mention that on their website or any published sites and she did not care. She had no solution or customer centric service. Her apathetic attitude was to roll her eyes away and hoping we would disappear.

We had to tell her to get the manager informed to help future customers and she said, they aren't around and that we're holding up the line.

For any potential families and newcomers, do not come here with a dog and be disappointed to deal with rejection and lame customer service.

Hope it helps anyone from avoiding the same...

Staff shouted at us for being on te up-stairs terrace with wet clothes after wakeboarding, literally shouting that we had to leave. We sat down there on earlier occasions after boarding, and then it wasn't an issue at all. We didn't know the rules changed apparently, and the way the staff handled it was just very poor.

We asked later at the wakeboard reception where you should get your drinks after wakeboarding (if you don't want to shower and dress up completely) and the short answer was that you can't. So if you go wakeboarding and you want to have a drink on the dock or on the beachy terrace downstairs, bring your own. Seriously.

The snack shed on the side of the building is only for the beach guests and cannot be accessed by the...
