Brasserie/Café De Kruik — Restaurant in Nuenen c.a.

If there were 10 stars, we would give them all! We stumbled upon Brasserie/Café de Kruik while passing through Nuenen and found an absolute gem. Wilfred and Esther, the amazing husband-and-wife duo behind this establishment, made us feel like old friends from the moment we arrived. Esther greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile, and it was clear that she genuinely loves what she does. Wilfred joined us shortly after we ordered, and it was evident that he shares the same passion for hospitality.

The food was nothing short of spectacular, but what truly sets this place apart is the sense of community that Wilfred and Esther have cultivated over the past 26 years. We initially planned for a quick dinner and an early bedtime, but we ended up staying for 4-5 hours, captivated by the stories shared by Martin, a neighbor, and Noel, their friend. Even our kids were thoroughly entertained and enjoyed their time at the restaurant.

The food is good but it's quite expensive in my opinion. I ordered the Gamba's and got only a handful of them. We also ordered fries for 3 people but got a really tiny cup of mayonaise which means we had to order more (and it's 75 cents per cup). Also we noticed they increased their prices since Corona, because on the website they show different prices than on their actual menu in the restaurant, so be careful with that!!! I still like the place and it's located in a cute village, but there are better restaurants you can go to in...

Service was the worst I've encountered. Despite confirming the availability of asparagus over the phone, upon arrival, they only had soup. The server showed no remorse for the misinformation. Additionally, when I ordered a fish salad, I received shrimp instead, to which the response was dismissive, literally said 'not my problem'. Service was utterly disappointing and lacking in basic...
