Amici d'Italia — Restaurant in Oss

A trip to Oss from everywhere in the Netherlands is worth for a dinner at Amici d’Italia. Real, pure Italian flavors, ti the essence without any contaminations. And I am Italian and I know what I am talking about. Difficult to find a place like this. I would add a 6th star if I could. The restaurant has an open kitchen, so you can see Chef Lele Torrisi preparing the dishes. The parmigiana di melanzane is perfectly balanced, home made pasta ravioli is superb. I never order a risotto in a restaurant because it’s never good. This one was above expectations. We loved the fish soup and the Sicilian Cannolo, which alone is worth a trip there. Wine arrived to the table opened and the antipasti were a selection of predictable veg which all tasted strongly after the massive fennel left in its midst.

Echt een tegenvaller. Behoorlijk onervaren bediening brengt je niet naar de gereserveerde tafel ('kies maar een tafeltje uit') en wijst niet op de garderobe. Bescheiden kaart (positief); desondanks eenzijdig (veel broccoli en polenta). Mandje met nietszeggend brood, maar de olijfolie erbij was lekker. Lang wachten op het voorgerecht. Dat kwam voor ons op een plank: twee kleine kleurloze, weinig verfijnde bruschetta en een grauw, smakeloos uitziende broccoli-minimousse (geen taartje zoals op de kaart staat). Kosten: 29 euro. Gaat naar mijn mening alle perken te buiten. Ruim een uur gewacht op het volgende gerecht. Een verkeerd gerecht voor een van mijn tafelgenoten werd prompt, zonder excuus, teruggenomen. Een minuut later werden de andere twee borden (nog net niet aangeroerd door ons) ook van tafel gehaald. Opnieuw zonder tekst of uitleg. Weer lang wachten. Echt lang. Uiteindelijk was de tagliatelle - in veel te kleine stukjes gebroken - te zout en snotterig. De ravioli bleek wel smaakvol. We hadden geen behoefte aan verdere gerechten en zijn thuis maar koffie gaan drinken. Bij de rekening gaf ik een van de serveersters door dat het allemaal veel te lang had geduurd.
