WOW... I think I just found my a hidden gem. This lovely restaurant was located in the town of Velp just outside of Arnhem. From the outside this restaurant immediately catches your eye. The building itself is an old water mill and has alot of beautiful character. The inside was just as charming as the outside and offered a very relaxed and intimate dining experience. They offer a very extensive wine menu and had a good selection of whiskies and other spirits. Although the menu was limited it did seem to offer somthing to suit all. We opted for the "Supprise 3 courses" at the low end of the price scale ( €43 p.p) The food was everything you would expect and more. The dishes where presented beautifully and the server fully explained every dish as it came out. There was also the option to have a suited wine with each course. The entire dining experience made for a lovely evening together with my partner.

Restaurant de Watermolen is a fine dining restaurant. Its soft ambiance and artful lighting create a perfect setting for a wonderful evening out.

The menu features a variety of exquisite dishes. I had the caviar (a must try) and the salmon-prawn as a shared starter - both exceptional!!!

For my main, I had the fish of the day, a testament to the kitchen's commitment to freshness and expertise. The chef's talent shines in every dish. My friend had the tournedos, and was just as delighted as I was!

The service is beyond reproach. The staff are incredibly attentive and fulfill every request with genuine kindness. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also superb.

Thanks to the amazing staff but mostly to the chef who gave us pure joy with every bite.

Gisteravond hebben we genoten van een gevarieerd 4 gangen menu in de Watermolen. Na een vriendelijke ontvangst en een aperitief met appetizer, werden we aan tafel genodigd en kregen we prachtige, mooi opgemaakte gerechten voorgezet. Bij elke gang een bijpassende wijn. Alles smaakte fantastisch! De bediening was prettig en gaf deskundige toelichting bij alles wat we opgediend kregen.

De kwaliteit van het personeel werd ons ook duidelijk door een voorval dat zich afspeelde aan de tafel naast ons. Daar waren twee 'heren' aangeschoven, waarvan er één duidelijk teveel had gedronken. Net iets te luid, zoals je mag verwachten van aangeschoten 'heren', gaven ze negatief commentaar op de gerechten die ze voorgezet kregen. De kok kwam informeren wat hij voor ze kon doen en bracht allervriendelijkst, zelf een vervangend gerecht. Maar het gemor bleef. Niets was goed genoeg. De gastheer werd erbij gehaald. Het deed ons genoegen dat hij zeer correct opkwam op voor zijn product en personeel. De mannen betaalden en verlieten mopperend het restaurant. Tijdens dit gebeuren werd ons discreet een andere plaats aangeboden om ons dessert te gebruiken. Toen wij naar huis gingen kwam de gastheer zijn excuses maken voor de overlast die wij wellicht hadden ervaren van de tafel naast ons. Excuses waren onnodig. Wij hadden heerlijk gegeten en met genoegen gezien hoe goed personeel ook onverwachte situaties het hoofd biedt. Wij komen...
