Moeke Rhenen — Restaurant in Rhenen

We recently visited this truly charming little restaurant-café called Moeke in the town of Rhenen, and I have to say it was an absolute delight. The place is set along the river and has a gorgeous terrace with a really lovely view. On a sunny day like today, the terrace is just wonderful—honestly, it’s the kind of spot that really shines when the sun is out.

Our first impression was fantastic. We waited just a few minutes for a table, and even though we were a group of seven, they found us a nice shady spot. From the get-go, the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Our waitress was just amazingly kind and welcoming—which, to be honest, is not something you always find in the Netherlands. Usually, service can be a bit more basic, but here it was absolutely top-notch.

As for the food, we ordered a salmon fillet for the kids, a burger, and three big schnitzels, each with a different sauce. The schnitzels came with potatoes and a kind of Burgundy jam, plus we had one with hollandaise sauce, one with pepper sauce, and one with mushroom sauce—my personal favorite. Everything was delicious.

We had a few beers, a bit of wine, and finished off with coffee and some ice cream for the kids. The children’s ice creams were served in these adorable little animal-themed cups that they got to keep, which was a really sweet touch.

Price wise I found it a bit overpriced 3 Schnitzel's, 1 burger, 1 salmon filet, 2 fries, 3 children ice-cream, 6 beers, 1 spritz, 1 chardonnay and water: 210€

All in all, it was a fantastic place with great food, wonderful service, and a lovely atmosphere. It’s not an area I frequent often, but on a sunny day, I’d consider coming back here to enjoy a pleasant afternoon...

My partner and I are great Hamburgers lovers. In our visit to Rhenen on this Sunday 25th, we searched for a place where we could eat a good hamburger,  and then we went into Moeke. To begin with, the location deserves a 5 * plus. Not only it is very welcoming and well decorated, comfortable,  but the view while eating is amazing. You have the river just in front of the terrace. We enjoyed  a lot the Cuba Libre cocktail,  well prepared,  and the cheese hamburger with French fries were absolutely delicious. But the best of all and what absolutely would make us come back to this restaurant in the future is the staff. They are very nice, kind and thoughtful,  always with a helping hand, ready to recommend you, and with a smile. My partner and I would love to thank to Jiyan, the waitress. She was all the time so friendly,  so nice and so smiling that she made our day at the place. We highly recommend this place. Keep like...

2022 Het heeft even geduurd voordat we Moeke weer eens bezochten, na onze laatste ervaring van 2018, zoals hieronder beschreven. We hebben hier geluncht met zijn vieren. We hebben allen een prima lunch genuttigd. Opvallend vonden we wel dat de hoeveelheden op ons bord, voor 3 van de 4 niet toereikend was, waar je hier voorheen eigenlijk altijd te veel kreeg, mocht het nu wel ietsje meer zijn. We hebben dus allen nog wat extras moeten bestellen om voldaan te zijn.

We hebben gegeten; 2x broodje warme Geitenkaas, Moekes uitsmijter en Eggs Benedict, 2 puntzakken friet en 1x de Nacho schotel. Die laatste is trouwens wel behoorlijk aan de maat en daar heeft iedereen wat van kunnen eten. De broodjes geitenkaas waren erg lekker, de uitsmijter prima en de Eggs Benedict, goed van smaak, maar niet juist bereid, het ei hoort bij het aansnijden uit te lopen over je gerecht, maar het ei was hard gekookt, zie foto.

Het personeel was vriendelijk, hoewel niet heel vlot noch alert. We moesten extra vragen om een theezakje welke niet direct bij het warme water werd geserveerd, zo ook moesten we vragen om bestek, wat niet op tafel lag of kwam met het eten.

Al met al wel een betere beleving dan we eerder hebben gehad. De locatie is perfect natuurlijk en de sfeer is goed. Helaas is het me de vorige keer ontgaan dat men een reactie gaf op mijn review met het verzoek contact met hen op te nemen. Vandaar dat ik deze review heb aanpast na onze belevingen van vandaag, die aanmerkelijk positiever zijn dan in 2018.

2018 Lekker gegeten, niet heel speciaal maar gewoon wel lekker. Helaas liet de bediening nogal te wensen over. Grapjes maken, die niet echt grappig zijn. We houden echt van vlotte bediening, maar te amicaal voelt toch niet echt prettig! Bovendien hebben we 3 kwartier op de dessert kaart moeten wachten en daarna nog minstens een kwartier voordat die werd opgenomen. Beide keren werd er pas na onze vraag actie ondernomen. Het toetje volgde daarna wel snel, ook dat moet gezegd worden! Toen wij dit benoemden bij het afrekenen, kregen we alleen uitleg over hoe druk het wel niet was........ en te weinig personeel!!! Een excuus kon er echter niet af. Jammer...
