I strongly recommend eating at BS, not only for their amazing food but also for the atmosphere. Me and my partner had a reservation for around 1pm, but came very late, which was easily solved over the phone (thank you staff ♥). We ordered 'Stylish ribs' and a chicken salad. Ribs were, and I quote, "deliciously divine", while it was definitely my bad to order a salad at a BBQ restaurant lol - the salad was fine but do yourself a favour and order a full-meat dish, you will not regret it! The general design of the restaurant is a work of an incredibly creative mind. As it's (what we assumed to be) an old storage unit, it looks nothing like one. Beautifully designed areas, both indoors and outdoors, really giving you the camping barbecue sort of vibe. If there were ever any issues, it would definitely be the process of actually getting in lol. We arrived to the entrance gate and got freaked out by the fact that there is a giant office space/factory building, so we thought it's just a work parking place and tried to go around. After 10 minutes of driving through different streets, we figured Google wasn't lying to us, so we tried the gate. While it's definitely a place of work offices, at the end of a fairly short straight road you can see big red "Black Smoke" letters, so we were incredibly relieved. Once we found the spacious and close-by designated parking space, we began looking for the actual entrance. It took us a bit to realise the giant entrance with the see-through plastic that you can see at a butcher's is the actual entrance! It was a journey but definitely worth it.
Well, if you made if this far into the review, I again recommend to visit. The food is great, the staff is welcoming and can speak English pretty well so we had no issues. The food menu (at least as of today) is mostly just Dutch but it does have pretty obvious English names, while the drink menu is...
Read moreThis restaurant offers an abundance of meat, steaks, spear ribs, and more meat. I’m not the biggest fan of meat, but my brother and father’s eyes went hearts when the waiters brought us the meals. The carpaccio was well made, as well as the tacos, but in my opinion, they had added a bit too much meat and was too greasy for me. The small salad was a good addition, together with the sauce. The spare ribs, however, were insanely good; juicy, tender and mouthwatering; in one word, very tasty. I would say, for the quality you get, it is worthy for the money. One thing to add though, is that there aren’t barely any vegetarian dishes, but well-understandable; after all, it is the butcher’s place 😄. Regarding beverages, the draft beer was a good combination. What surprised me was that there was a cocktail with tea, so I had to try it. It was good, but not really my taste, as it was stronger than expected. Moreover, the theme of the place is intriguing; it’s as if you are an animal yourself in the butcher’s place; kind of creepy in my eyes😅. However, the environment was lively, filled with happy people and laughter from every table. Lastly, the staff were over the top; such bright and polite people! Definitely made our evening, especially our waitress - the lady radiating energy and positivity; she was so helpful and full of jokes to lift up the mood! In general, we had a great time in this restaurant, despite the somewhat creepy environment. Food was tip-top, beer good, the concept enthralling. I definitely recommend this place to...
Read moreBoth Myself and my wife came to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary at Black Smoke Rotterdam the Atmosphere was great, and the staff was very friendly, as soon as we arrived we were seated in the bar area as we arrived around 10-15 minutes early before our reservation.
I had ordered the goose island IPA which was very refreshing and smooth and she had her Coca-Cola and some cocktail had a bit of orange and something else in it i can't remember the name of it.
I had ordered the Caribbean Hanger Steak with a side of the signature baked beans, and my wife ordered the signature bbq ribs with a side order of the pumpkin corn bread, my steak was very good and cooked to perfection, how i thought the charred banana was fairly bland, and could of used some sweetness to compliment the meal, the pickled onions were also good as well as the chilis, the baked beans were perfect.
My wife's ribs were also good tender and easy to peel off the bone i had to help her finish them, the pumpkin cornbread was moist and tasted great, how ever we felt the spice from the jalapenos took away from the pumpkin cornbread it's self.
For dessert I had the heart attack 3.0 dessert and it was really good the hazel nut spread and the cream filling worked really well together, my wife has the American pie, and it was kind of bland on it's own but it went well with the vanilla ice cream, she let me try some.
Overall there are more good about our visit then bad, and we will come here again in the...
