Silverado American Steakhouse & Saloon — Restaurant in Steenwijkerland

Had dinner here a while back and found our experience to be okay.

We ordered the following as mains: Tournedos- medium rare; Mixed grill instead of varkenshaas tournedos; Dutch steak - medium;

These mains come with the following sides: Fries; Rhubarb; Coleslaw

The coleslaw was of normal quality, nothing to special about it. The rhubarb is something this place is known for and I have to admit that it does taste beautifully. Not too sweet, no detectable tangyness and of good consistency. As for the mains, all meats were cooked to exactly our order and seasoned nicely. FYI: if you like your steaks well seasoned, definitely order a sauce since it is a Dutch adaptation of "seasoned", so do not expect the luscious seasoning like overseas.

Our mains took 30min to come out and all arrived beautifully one after another. Secondly, the knives in this restaurant were sharpened nicely and we all were able to cut through our meats without any issue. A compliment to the kitchen.

If I were to come back I might ask if it's possible to change the fries for baked potatoes and the coleslaw for an actual salad. Since the sides are lacking that complimentary factor to the meats.

We did notice that the menu cards were extremely dirty and smelled quite faul. The type of faul if the establishment doesn't sanitize it well enough, and or often enough. Additionally, the service can come across as quite 'rude', which is definitely not meant that way, yet some soft skills would go a long way.

As for desserts we ordered a: White lady, Italian coffee and the cheesecake.

The icecream and the drink were of decent quality, yet the cheesecake left something to be desired. The flavours didn't compliment each other and the shaved almonds just really didn't do it for me either.

So overall a decent experience, yet plenty of room for growth. If you fancy a good piece if meat, grilled to exactly how you like it? Then visit Silverado. If you want a whole(some) dining experience, this might not be the place for you.

Happy we tried it though! 3persons - €138. And a reservation is recommended as this place is quite popular...

Gewoon een erg goed steak restaurant. Tegen een goede prijs.

Mixed grill was super van smaak, structuur, gaarheid en hoeveelheid (xl variant) de normale heeft geen biefstuk erbij wat enigzins vreemd is. De prijs ligt wat hoger dan standaard maar dit vertaald zich terug in de kwaliteit van het geheel. En dan kun je beter een paar euro meer betalen.

Minpunt is het puntje gras wat moet doorgaan voor een salade bij de mixed grill. Dat mag wel flink royaler. De smaak en dressing waren dan wel weer goed. Dat maakt tesamen met de coleslaw een goeie mixed grill in mijn ogen. Spareribs zijn niet top maar ook niet slecht. De meeste restaurants hebben daar moeite mee blijkbaar. Het vlees valt er niet af.

Coleslaw en rabarber waren dan weer wel ruim bemeten. Rabarber een wat vreemde keus. Het smaakte goed maar niet mijn ding.

Eigenlijk zijn er bijna geen slechte punten te noemen, maar overal is iets te verbeteren. De satésaus was echt heel dun waardoor het niet lekker eet/hecht aan vlees en tevens een nat bord oplevert. De smaak was wel goed.

Sfeer is prima behalve de saloon. Achter zit je toch wat leuker. Maar blij dat er nog een plekje was. De tent was vol.

Great friendly service, atmosphere is in building nice but was noisy and a little background music would help.

Over al the food was good , chicken wings disappointed because very dry and seasoning was not spicy at all same like the spare ribs. The Gambas was good only a bit to much oil and the herbs was burned. Cream brulee was delicious like the rudbarber with apple...
