Het Slimme Schaap — Restaurant in Stein

We went for dinner and it was really good. There’s plenty of vegan options and it’s really delicious. Very very fresh fries. Also very well balanced flavors of “fake meat dishes”. I fully recommend it to anyone. I got “vegan zuurvlees” and it tasted like the normal one (not too sweet nor too salty) and my girlfriend had some “tempeh sate” dish. I don’t like usually those plates but upon tasting hers I was surprisingly pleased with the taste.

A tip would be that you order the big option “hungry as a wolf” otherwise, get a dessert, they are also super good.

I got the tiramisu and my girlfriend the red velvet cake, both vegan and delicious too (forgot to take pictures of those)

I am in Maastricht a couple times a year for the Andre Rieu concert. I needed somewhere I can safely eat without fearing the aftermath. I found this place on happy cow and it was perfect. I had a vegan schnitzel with fries, mushroom sauce and a side salad. Sorry no pictures, I was a long way from home and was hungry, you just have to believe me it was nicely presented. I was a bit worried because of a couple of critical reviews. Fear not, no this is not a Michelin star restaurant nor does it claim to be. Wij hebben vanuit het Slimme Schaap de speurtocht 'De Sleutel van Elsloo' gedaan. Hoewel de speurtocht best leuk is, staat de prijs niet in verhouding tot wat je ervoor krijgt. Je betaalt niet per groep, maar per persoon. Met ons gezin waren we hierdoor € 49,50 kwijt. Je krijgt per groepje één tas mee, dus het is een raadsel waarom je voor een grotere groep meer zou moeten betalen dan voor een kleinere groep. De krant die je krijgt is mooi vormgegeven. De opdrachten zorgen ervoor dat je op verschillende plekken in het dorp komt, maar zijn niet bepaald vernieuwend. Al met al zou ik een euro of 20 echt het maximale vinden wat dit waard is. Gelukkig vond onze jongste zoon het erg leuk, maar ik heb er vooral het gevoel aan overgehouden dat me een poot uitgedraaid is. We hebben dus besloten niet nog meer geld hier uit te geven en zijn na het afsluiten van de speurtocht maar ergens anders...
