Het Wapen van Warmond — Restaurant in Teylingen

Our experiences with people or restaurants in Netherlands has been very pleasant except this one. This is by far our worse experience in Leiden, or in all the places we’ve traveled in Holland. Very rude staff.

We got there around 5:30pm but the door was closed. The menu outside says dinner starts at 5pm but we couldn’t find information on whether they close on Monday. We saw the lights were on inside the restaurants and there were two people walking around and talking at the bar so we knocked on the door trying to figure out if the restaurant is closed for the day, thus we should go somewhere else, or it’s simply not ready to open for dinner yet so we can wait around or come back later. A young man answered the door with very rude tone and expression shouted “the door is closed” even we apologized and explained that we don’t understand Dutch well and just try to figure out what to do.

Een niet zo goede ervaring in "het Wapen van Warmond", waar het voorheen wel redelijk was. Het opnemen van de bestelling was al erg rommelig en we moesten tot drie keer toe vertellen wie wat wilde bestellen. De carpacho is absoluut geen aanrader als voorgerecht. De bijgevoegde saladedressing was allesoverheersend waardoor dit gerecht nergens op leek. Tijdens het hoofdgerecht werd er ondanks dat we er naar gevraagd haddden, geen wijn geserveerd en tijdens het nagerecht was de bestelde desert wijn vervangen door een of andere droge witte wijn. Bij navraag hiernaar werd er medegedeeld dat de dessert wijn op was maar dat werd ons niet eerst verteld. Misschien dat de drukte er mee te maken had maar dat mag geen excuus zijn. Al met al...
