Mulberry Restaurant — Restaurant in Teylingen

The restaurant is located close to the water. It has a big garden with terrace and a private parking. The service was definitely 5 stars; kind and making a connection. The sommelier had some great stories and the chefs also came to the table to serve dishes. We loved 5 of the 6 courses, especially the sauces were really high on taste and we really enjoyed it! The one dish we found lagging a bit was the cheese platter. The goat cheese was really dry and the fig bread was also a bit dry. There was no compote or something to make it less dry. Second cheese was a bit blend and the blue cheese missed the “punch” in my opinion. Also one of the two wine pairings was not to my preferred tasting (I know, that’s personal). I found it to be a bit “petrol” tasting.

All in all the experience was five stars, five out of six dishes were five stars and most of the wines were five stars as well. Why a four star total? Because at this price point and the Michelin star I was hoping for everything to fall into place. We spend about € 185 per person. This asks for everything to be excellent in my opinion.

But; we will surely return because you do get a great evening with...

I predict that this restaurant will have a 2nd star in '26 or '27 latest if they continue on this path. Of all the 1 star Michelin restaurants that my wife and I have eaten at in the past few months the Moerbei stands out with head and shoulders. I don't know what it was, perhaps it was the tons of beurre blanc but every single dish was an absolute delight, we literally could not find a fault in a single dish.

On top of that the restaurant is surprisingly affordable for a 1 star Michelin restaurant. We were a party of 5 people and we paid 300EUR p.p. and I lost count of how many bottles of Champagne and Port we went through.

The only downside is the noise volume, but I don't blame the restaurant for this but the Dutch patrons, the Dutch are loud talkers, love my Dutch fam!

🪑Huiskamerstijl restaurant - kleine hoeveelheid gasten die ze kunnen ontvangen. Sfeer is daarom intiem.

🛎️Uitstekende service. Ontvangen door een dame in een bordeaux jurk. Vervolgens werd de service verleend door een heer. Beiden heel vriendelijk - verzorgd en oog / oor voor detail!

💰5 gangen, 2 wijnpairing, water en oesters vooraf was €610,- voor 3 personen met fooi. Normale prijs in dit segment.

VEGA) dame heeft nog nooit bij een Michelin restaurant gegeten en heeft net als ik een nieuwe hobby. Michelin restaurants afstrepen, wat haar betreft dus geslaagd.

Ik had zelf het MOERBEI menu:

1️⃣North sea crab (8/10) Sobrasada - kimchi - crabcake Erg lekker, prachtig opgemaakt, maar niet exceptioneel. Dat kleintje potje erbij vond ik persoonlijk een beetje gek uitzien. Ik kreeg associaties met een toilet pot 🫣

2️⃣Weever (7/10) tomato - pine nuts - potato Goed op smaak perfect gegaard, ik vond alleen de saus te boterig voor mijn smaak.

3️⃣Sweetbread (8/10) Cecina de Léon - tortilla - bell pepper Nooit eerder gegeten, iets wat vreemde structuur voor mij, maar wel goed op smaak en in balans met de rest op het bord.

4️⃣Duck breast (9/10) Corn - romanesco Overheerlijk! Prachtige opmaak en met de moeilijk te vinden groeten - ROMANESCO

5️⃣Raspberry (10/10) Ras el hanout - white chocolate Beste van de avond - rood fruit op zijn best. Perfecte balans van zoet en zuur.

🍷Uitstekende wijnen, duidelijke uitleg. Ook in de glazen kon er rekening gehouden worden met de Bob!
