Where do I start? Great food, great service, great decor and atmosphere, great choice for a great meal. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
The restaurant is decorated beautifully with a perfect mix of Urk and fishing boat objects. The staff are attentive, friendly and polite. Calming view of the ocean.
The choice of menu is simple. Typical Dutch cuisine and (to be expected) fish choices. I had croquettes and my husband had the fish and chips. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the croquettes cause they're usually all the same mass produced. They tasted home made or speciality made. The bread they came with was fresh and pillowy soft. I was thoroughly satisfied. My husband's fish was so delicious, too. Perfectly battered, lightly seasoned and fresh that morning. Chips nicely cooked too.
I also had a slice of appeltaart cause it's my birthday, and it was delicious too. Soft but not mushy apples, topped with flaked almonds and a nice pie crust.

You can choose a 3 or 4 course meal (meat, fish or vegan) for around 25 euro, which is actually a good price. Also the ambience and looks are great (old sailor/navigator items and feel and lots of plants). Located on the old sea side beneath the lighthouse it has a great view. The waiters could be more helpfull/serving though and it can be quite crouded during the weekends.
Picture shows my main course; pig ribs with vegetables and baked potatoes on the side. The meat was medium, just as I asked.
Recap: +++ Great place, great cooks, great ambience, good price. waiters can be a little bit slow, can be...
Read moreThe fish and chips dish was awesome.. but when we arrived at 5 pm they insisted all tables were reserved and gave us a corner table. However we were there for almost an hour and half but nobody came to those tables. I feel like they just didn't want to serve the full area. The restaurant is pretty, but even a local told us that they have some attitude and are not friendly. The cafe further down on the beach was recommended...
