I was just there five days too long. This accommodation should be left after three days at the latest, so as not to get a glimpse behind the scenes. The untrained staff got out of hand. In the 8 days I have not seen an owner or a manager with authorization. All that was available was poorly trained staff doing things that a truly posh hotel would never be in debt. So its called "Auberge"! The receptionist told me with a smile - I would be very dirty - as if this were a self-evident fact, because the cleaning lady told her this and tacitly presupposed - I would probably agree with her. The fact that I brought a lot of sand from walks with my dog had probably upset the cleaning lady...? Then she showed me photos - 15 to 20 - of my guest room number 4 in all corners and all clothes, cosmetics etc. The next day I confronted the receptionist about the legal untenable situation and asked her who had taken these photos, which she did not want to tell me. But she meant to contribute to a kind of clarification, if she explained to me "we did it only for us, for our protection"... for they had taken away two pillows, one of which had fallen to the ground, and which had a water stain, because I had covered a wet chair with it in the morning to drink my coffee. It would be clear that my dog would have stayed overnight, she told me. My room was very noisy, because it was right next to the side entrance door, which fell into the castle every time with a loud bang and through Corona-direction. very busy. In addition, there were children who found it too much effort to close their room door with the jack and several times had their door slammed with locking mechanism. All rooms have this locking mechanism, so you can hear a loud bang 5 to 10 times an hour. In addition, the room is without curtains, but with blinds and if it is very called, you can only open the two windows for airing. Because there is the restaurant terrace in front of it, guests can look into the room through the open window wedges at eye level. I felt like I was in the shop window and like I was at the train station. In Middelburg - a place about 20km away, I complained to four old Dutch ladies - just as Cairnterrier fans - as I am - in the cafe my sorry about this accommodation and everyone knew about which I was talking. They said the Auberge de Campverse Toren was known for its unkindness and no one from their acquaintance...
Read moreThis Hotel had been recommended to us. They had been sending me emails with their great offers on a regular basis, last 2 years or so. At last we end up going to this lovely old fishing village. We did not stay in this hotel, but reserved one of their best tables overlooking the Veerse Lake for dinner. Unbelievably rude was the welcome we received in the Restaurant. (note we had dressed up for the occasion, so it was not that). They pretended not to find our reservation (made 4 hours earlier??!!),we had to ask several times for the menu or even to get an aperitif...all in all we felt like leaving even before we could order. Personally I will not set foot in this Restaurant and obviously Hotel again. Only reason they might have been upset is that we were staying in a Hotel 2 mins. walk away, pretty new and far superior, also with superb views over the lake. I happened to have their key in my hand. Still unbelievably rude welcome...so...
