Very friendly staff. And a surprisingly good desert specialty made with the local butter toffee flavor. And great fries And of course a fabulous view… Otherwise quite disappointing! I know, I cannot always expect the lobsters, I ate on the pacific coast, but frankly… am I the only one finding 30$ for halve a lobster of baby size, grotesque…??! And, don’t misunderstand me, I would pay it gladly if the quality were up to it, but sadly, it wasn’t: the half lobster was not grilled well, not cooked “à point”; the lobster meat still sticked to the carapace and it was only lukewarm… the accompanying grilled veggies were plainly cold, the sauce was a lovelessly prepared mayonnaise based thick paste… sorry, it was a bad experience! And finally, I had an encounter of the x-st kind in seeing this “machine”, that probably should keep white wines at the right temperature and serve the “proper” sizes… but honestly… what do we have to think of gastronomes that pump up a well made frech wine through plastic tubes…

It was very likely caused by the oysters, which raises serious concerns about the freshness and food safety standards at this place. It’s a real shame because the location is absolutely stunning — the restaurant sits directly on the ocean, offering beautiful views that really enhance the atmosphere. We also enjoyed most of the food we ordered (photos attached), and the service was okay, though nothing outstanding. While the setting was lovely and the dishes looked good, the aftermath of the oyster incident was extremely unpleasant and disappointing. We hope the restaurant takes this seriously and improves their quality control, especially when serving raw seafood.

Convenient parking, stunning sea and sunset views, great venue, food, ambience and staff. 10 stars for our hostess who was outstanding! She spoke Spanish, German and English. And went out of her way to prepare the surprise birthday special in our celebration of a pre-50th birthday party. And took the time to take photos at our request. A highly recommended restaurant!

Eens bezochten wij uw restaurant Westkaap. Bijzonder goed bevallen. Mooi gedekte tafels, een uiterst vriendelijke bediening. Kortom, een uitnodigende ambiance. Eten was uit de kunst. Toen. Nu, een aantal jaren later, nog een keer met hoopvolle verwachting teruggekeerd. Hoe een succesvolle formule kan verworden tot een lege huls waar kraak noch smaak aan zit. Kale tafels, een ongeïnteresseerde bediening die toch het visitekaartje van het bedrijf zou moeten zijn, en een keukenbrigade die, getuige de lange wachttijd, de boel niet onder controle heeft.

Ik weet hoe een kreeft uit te serveren. Dat is in ieder geval niet dat u de gast zelf het darmkanaal laat verwijderen. En ook oogt het niet fraai om gekliefde ingewanden als een groenzwarte prut te laten zitten. En, bij het eten van schaal- en schelpdieren hoort een, liefs glazen kommetje met lauwwarm water met schijfjes citroen om de vingers te reinigen en niet slechts een voorverpakt vochtig papiertje. Een restaurant met de statuur die u pretendeert te bezitten, gezien uw menukaart en prijsvoering, mag simpelweg geen sauzen uit flesjes en potten serveren maar moet die zelf bereiden. Dat moge duidelijk zijn. Een remouladesaus, mayonaise en yoghurt met mosterd en citroen is met kleingesneden kappertjes en augurken en geen boterachtige smeerbare substantie uit een pot. Dat moet toch niet zo moeilijk zijn. Hetzelfde geldt voor uw limoenmayonaise en cocktailsaus. Zelf maken. U hebt vast wel ergens een keukenmachine staan. Daarmee is het een fluitje van een cent. Ik kan u mijn receptuur aanbevelen. Het garnituur dat bij de kabeljauwfilet geserveerd werd was erger dan bedroevend, 5 gesneden reepjes paprika. Gedurfd minimalisme maar dan wel een van de verkeerde soort. Het geheel werd gecompleteerd door een bakje slappe en verschrompelde frites die overduidelijk minimaal 3 maal in de frituur waren geweest. Ook hier geldt: zelf maken! Er zijn in Zeeland genoeg boeren te vinden die de juiste aardappelsoorten kunnen aanleveren. Het zou geen moeite moeten zijn om de toiletten in een dusdanige staat van netheid te houden dat de bezoekers niet door het papier moeten waden als ze hun handen willen wassen.

Resumerend kan gesteld worden dat uw restaurant de pretenties die het ooit bezat niet langer kan waarmaken en dat de kwaliteit die het ooit serveerde het verloren heeft van gemakzucht.

Ik geef u in ernstige overweging om eens de hulp van Gordon Ramsay in te roepen om uw gehele brigade eens flink onder...
