De Wildeman — Restaurant in Velsen

An English-language review for non-Dutch speakers looking for places outside of Amsterdam to visit or already in Santpoort:

De Wildeman is a MUST-VISIT pub - it's got:

an atmosphere that's somehow cozy & welcoming and wide-open & comfortably spacious,

an excellent drinks selection served by an exceptionally friendly & attentive staff, which is complemented by Santpoort's lovely & lively locals,

a brilliant attitude & support for showing sports - the whole place lights up with a positive & fun energy without overwhelming the whole place or creating an unwelcoming atmosphere, unlike many places I've visited (I don't even follow any sports, but my first time there on match-day, I expected to spend my time tucked away from the action (which I could have easily & happily done), but the vibe was so great that I couldn't resist and got involved with the locals enjoying it, despite knowing nothing!

The cherry-on-top is the adjoining hall where, if you time it right, you can catch some proper concerts & really great music right up-close and personal! I'm actually planning to spend a fair bit of my next visit to Holland in Santpoort, almost exclusively because of De Wildeman & the people I met there!

We had coffee and cake on a Wed morning. Everything breaths here the eye for detail and professionalism of the owner. Properly-brewed espresso, apple pie on room temperature, fresh flowers, clean toilets, a lovely cosy interior, and very friendly atmosphere. Gasten die er zaten waren hele leuke mensen de dames in de bediening waren echt super vriendelijk en gastvrij en hielpen je echt goed en ze waren ook snel! Respect voor de dames in de bediening! Het min punt voor mij waren de vaste gasten die binnen zaten dronken met hun schuine opmerkingen enz en de eigenaar die iedereen aankijkt of je hem gaat bestelen ofzo zo'n gevoel kreeg ik van deze man dat was heel erg jammer maja dat zeg ik de gasten die er zaten waren echt super leuk en de meiden van de bediening ook, ik kom nog wel eens hier en daar een...
