Why no michelin star?? - the restaurant was an absolutely unexpected culinary experience which I will go out of my way to repeat at any future chance I'll get. Brilliant little menu items with real winners. There was a 4 course game menu which the couple at the table next to us had (I imagine people travel far and wide for this one). My mother chose one of those dishes - Rebhuhn with Gänseleber Pastete - a real stunner. I tried the only vegetarian meal on the 2 page menu, a creative filled pasta (ravioli style) dish with pistachios. Unexpected treats such as an amuse-bouche to start and freshly baked, sweet rolls while we waited for food to be prepared. We added a plate of french fries for my mother - this came upped with truffle mayonnaise and parmesan shavings. Despite being full we went for the dessert PURELY OUT OF CURIOSITY to see what the chef might have come up with, and he did not disappoint: a most addictive tasting white chocolate Cheesecake with a Spekulatius mousse. I will drive by Venlo (completely unnecessarily) on my return solely to eat here again. About the hotel - We never planned to stay here - we had made an unscheduled stop for the night at the Hotel Wilhelmina from our drive from London to Hamburg after the temperature had dropped below zero. Having phoned the 1st hotel which Google maps suggested, we arrived to a very traditionally comfortable hotel (personally it's always my preference to choose old style hotels over the block colour, high gloss plastics of the new age accommodation). Advantage: spacious car parking right behind the hotel. This is an old building of which the best has been drawn in terms of rooms. We saw 2 rooms, both had very comfortable beds, great heating, good hot water, bath or shower. Everything clean, immaculate in fact. The staff was very very helpful - Frank, Rhiannon (?) and several others the next day - helped with plugs converters and finding the room. Wat een geweldige ervaring weer na 6 jaar We hebben het heel gezellig gehad en veel gelachen Ontbijt nou dat klinkt als een klok Heerlijk warm broodjes en beleg Zelf je eigen eitje bakken in de kleine pannetjes. We hadden ook nog een 3 gangen diner Nou om je vingers mee af te likken Alleen jammer dat je de patat er apart bij moet bestellen want dat zit niet in de diner. We vonden het raar warm eten zonder aardappel of patat. Maar van de hogere hand moet het zo op deze manier Maar verder om eens op terug te kijken de auto achter het Hotel parkeren was altijd vrij zat in de reservering. Maar nu moet je 8.50euro per dag betalen om te parkeren Maar dan loop je ook zo de stad...

Gezellig & proper restaurant met geestige bediening! Apart & overheerlijk eten! 3 - gangen menu vóór €39.95! Er zitten wel eens dronken egotrippers, ook wel griezels in uniform genoemd (deze hebben thuis niets tezeggen) en worden er-uit gezet zonder pardon! Kleine gratis parkeerplaats aan de achter zijde!
