extremely disappointing experience today as we drove our bicycles from The Hague to the beautiful spot of the Thee Pavillion in Wassenaar (close to an hour with my 10-year old daughter) to realize that we had missed a very small sign at the entrance of the park (allowing cars! But...) forbidding bicycles on the paved way (about 1 mile / 1.5 km) to the Pavillion. Once there we saw the cars in the parking of the Pavillion as well as a sign forbidding us to park our bicycles. We decided then to park them a little way further back on the paved road, alongside a tree and walked back. We were then met at the (outside) entrance of the Pavillion by someone from the staff informing us of the fact that it was forbidden to drive bicycles there. I explained that we had just seen the sign and that we would just take something to drink and go. She insisted that the rules were that we were not supposed to park our bicycles on the bend of the road. The Garda would probably come & remove our bikes. The fact that there was no way for me to drag back my daughter all the way back & forth again walking (before cycling another hour all the way back to The Hague) did not matter.... We had to take our bicycles and leave............ As we reached our bicycles another person (a man this time ) stopped his car next to us to inform us .... That we were not supposed to ride our bikes there!!!!! As we left we were again (...) passed by 2 cars at full speed ..... !!! Not sure this is good for the park nor safe for its pedestrians visitors but apparently 2 sets of rules applied if you live there or are just visiting. A shame. I was really looking forward to discovering this secluded spot but it may simply not be destined...
Read moreThe pavilion and the surroundings are beautiful. I've visited several times but unfortunately it seems children are not welcome here and the owner will probably be happy to read that we won't be coming back.
I got the impression that they don't like children during a few of my previous visits but the last incident confirmed it for me. My child sits quietly looking at books when we're in a restaurant. She isn't loud, doesn't run around and doesn't make a fuss.
During our last visit the waitress spilled my daughter's drink over her while trying to serve it. She dropped it off her tablet onto the highchair. Luckily I had a change of clothes for her as she was soaking wet down to her underwear.
The waitress just dropped some napkins on the table and didn't even dry my daughter's chair while I was consoling her and changing her clothes. I had to clean the chair myself. The wet and dirty napkins remained on our table during our meal.
Accidents happen but I think the least she could have done was clean the mess she made and maybe even take my daughter's drink off the bill to apologise for the incident but she clearly didn't care. I was quite shocked by that...
Read moreI had a very unpleasant experience today at this tea house. You have to wait for the waitresses for a very long time, while actually they are just hanging around. Our order was not correct and they gave us something what was not even in the menu and when we complained about that they made a mistake with the order they charged us extra for the food what we didn’t even order. We talked to the manager who was extremely arrogant and unfriendly. Such a terrible place! I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!!! Enjoy the park but avoid this place!
Additionally, now this unprofessional, amateur, rude manager or owner or who else is this Mr nobody calls me a liar in his reaction. Alright! We can prove that we are right. There is not even Greek salad on your menu and you charged us for a Greek salad with a higher price than all the other salads. Who could even order something what it’s not part of the menu? We have the receipt. You insulting your own costumers??? Calling them liars??? Not really smart of you, locals spread words. You should learn decent behavior...
