Moments Beach — Restaurant in Westland

Great location and views, ok food, and... RUDE Waitress.

My family came to this restaurant today. It is conveniently located right by the beach, offers great sea views from its terrace, and has some variety of food.

We spent several hours there, we had beers, then we had lunch, then we had a few coffees. Our 2 year old son had a great time as well, there were several trucks toys on the terrace and he enjoyed playing with them a lot.

And then, out of the blue...

We were getting ready to leave and were starting to pack slowly. Our son does not yet eat restaurant food, and we had some home-cooked food for him. Among other things there was an apple that my son did not eat. So, I decided to eat that apple...

Guess what? The next moment I was attacked by the waitress: "I will not let you eat your food in MY restaurant!" Honestly, I was shocked and speechless for a few seconds. We had spent about 50 Euro at that restaurant and she decided to make a big deal out of 1 apple. There were plenty of empty tables, yet she was trying to kick us out of the restaurant. She said we stopped ordering food and we had to leave...

I had to order a cup of tea to calm her down, and she seemed to be happy after that. Well, our beach experience was pretty much destroyed after this accident.

I only spend 6 months in the Netherlands and I am not sure if this rude behavior is a norm here, or if it is specific to this restaurant. Nowhere in the U.S. did I have similar experience. I guess it is the expectation of a tip that helps American waiters to be nice and polite to customers. Dutch waiters can afford to be rude with customers as they do not typically get tips here and receive...

Ok spot to have a drink and/or bite to eat. However we had a pretty long wait for our food and the burgers were obviously made up in a rush (all the blue cheese in one chunk on one side of the burger) and the fries were too salted. It's clear they were short-staffed (for that day?), also making an error in our second round of drinks. Wasn't impressed with the desserts menu so had that elsewhere. A one...

Ik kwam hier een paar keer afgelopen jaren nadat ik hier in 2017 de lekkerste hamburger had gegeten. Heerlijk en prijs kwaliteit was prima. Daarna een paar keer terug geweest hiervoor, vandaag weer helemaal verheugd op dit heerlijke broodje hamburger. Inmiddels was het gerecht 3 euro duurder maar goed dat was het me wel waard. Helaas een grote teleurstelling. Het was in de verste verte niet wat het voorheen was. 3 blaadjes sla, hamburger, en een half cherrytomaatje en een soort cheesespread met een penetrante smaak. En een handje friet, er stond bij dat alle gerechten met friet en salade worden geserveerd. Nou de hamburger niet in elk geval. Goed verdienmodel.

Super jammer, volgende keer niet meer terug en ook niet meer opscheppen tegen iedereen over dat je daar écht eens de hamburger...
