Happy Moose — Restaurant in Zoetermeer

While birding we end up here for lunch. The location is great. The ambiance is somewhat Canadian shack with Moose photos and Moose head on the walls. Well, you can also get married here.

Getting to the food. The union soup was good and warm. The portion for the price is for teenagers not for adults.

The split pea soup was new on the menu and they didn’t even made it fresh or by themself. The taste was good and they heated the soup well. Again the portion was small.

The calf croquettes were good. Well deep-fried. For this price (€9,50) one would think larger croquettes. The bread was of good portion. The salade was a mystery. If the idea was to make it healthy then no saus only olive oil would do. The saus they opted for was meager and failed to go well with the salad. The mustard was enough for two croquettes.

The level of service provided by the waiter was satisfactory.

Last friday this was my review: Horrible, beer was dead, wine was warm and old. Empty bar. We left after 1 drink on a Friday night.. Old glory though I can't seem to wrap my head around why this place could've gone bad.. it has a nice location and should do pretty good.

4 years ago this was my review: Very good rib eye and good salmon, all for little money(20/25 p.p. including a drink and starter) great view of the lake, its right next to it Nice building, lake cottage, made from real Canadian wood (shows nice statostics about howmany treelogs, nails, bandaids where used during build.) Surprisingly out of the wind when you sit outside! Great to combine with a day at the lake, a day at "het Geertje" (very nice farm where you can feed goats, piggies eat a pancake for lunch, all ridiculously cheap) or a day boating or...

Leuke mooie locatie, daar moeten ze het kennelijk van hebben (beleving), echter qua prijsstelling en kaart jammer genoeg niet geweldig. Om van de drankenprijzen maar niet te spreken. Je zou zeggen dat de positievelingen, waarbij ik ook graag bij had willen horen, hun oordeel niet afwegen naar prijs/kwaliteit.

De schnitzel is zwaarder door het paneermeel dan door het vlees. En dat voor € 17,00 voor een kale schnitzel.

De enige op de kaart staande (cheese) hamburger is flinterdun en verder zeer karig belegd voor € 16,00.

Voor een restaurantwaardige zaak mag je voor die prijs ook wel verwachten dat de mayonaise niet cafetaria achtig afgepast wordt bijgeleverd in sachets, maar gewoon lekker ruim in een schaaltje.

Het verzoek was doorgebakken frites, echter dat kreeg alleen degene die het verzoek deed.

Het personeel komt mij té vaak irritant aan het tafeltje om te vragen of "alles naar wens is" en afrekenen gaat in principe zonder bon. Je moet er dus om vragen. Ze staan al gelijk klaar om te pinnen, en je krijgt daardoor ook niet eens de kans om eventueel de rekening te delen.
