Loetje Zwolle — Restaurant in Zwolle

Had dinner for three last night, so here's a quick recap.

The Good: Appetizer: bread | mozzarella | pesto Main course: steak | hamburger | fries on the side Dessert: Dame blanche

The food was really exquisite. No complaints there.

The Bad: Upon seating I think a server dropped a tray on top of a patron. I'm glad that was all the drama for the rest of the evening.

I ordered the hamburger without cheese and onions, because I'm lactose intolerant and onions cause bloating. Too bad they did serve it with cheese and some vegetables on the side which weren't even listed. I came prepared with proper medication, but it's still a letdown.

My companions remarked that it was a bit cold inside.

The Ugly: Even though we got seated quickly, it took like 30 minutes to get drinks. We had to wait 90 minutes from the time we got seated for the main course to arrive. By then we were starving.

It was pretty much full house and it felt like they were understaffed. Servers kept passing by and it seemed like they just couldn't get all the food out on time.

We had to go through 3 people to get the check, but they did comp us for the long wait time by giving the first round of drinks for free.

Verdict: Great food, but I wouldn't go again around dinner time. I'll definitely come back for...

Had a great experience at Loetje Zwolle. The restaurant is spacious and modern, with a relaxed vibe and plenty of parking right outside—which already makes it super convenient. We were welcomed warmly, and our server was friendly, attentive, and spoke excellent English.

I ordered the garlic steak (biefstuk Bali-style with garlic) and it was absolutely delicious—tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor. That signature Loetje gravy, especially with the garlic twist, is seriously addictive. The bitterballen were a great starter, perfectly crispy and comforting. But the unexpected star? The sweet potato fries. Dip them in the steak sauce and you’ve got a combo that’s hard to beat.

Very mediocre food for the price and beware of Food Poisoning!!! We were anticipating something better as we came across the restaurant via the AMEX gold benefits site. Steaks are overpriced and look sad, drowned in gravy. Not sure if the g indication even matches, as my husband ordered a bigger one, which looked smaller than my regular one. Sides are extra charged, but ok, that was not the worst. At night I got terrible intestinal problems, including fainting and fevers. I suspect the added liver on my steak, since my husband ordered a plain steak and was fine. It was also the only meal we ate that day. Terrible experience,...
