Shoreline Cafe — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

Saw their post on FB the other day with some great specials and thought why not give this place a go. Ya know support local and all. Boy are we glad we did. Went there last night first time. Firstly the views are beautiful and took us by surprise wasn't expecting those when we walked in and secondly the food and service was top notch. Really yum. Portion size generous, was hot and tasted so good, we had the chicken parma. Maria who was the waitress/manager was outstanding. She never stopped. Was attentive, friendly and chatty, greeted you with a smile. I even tipped her for her hard work, she really deserved it. The bar ladies were great too. Would give it a zero if I could. The worst service I have experienced, staff had to idea what they were doing. They didn’t know the menu or what they were bringing out when they finally did bring them out (over an hour waiting!). The chef is trying to bring a fancy menu to a small seaside town and putting it with a chicken snitty! Ordered a medium steak it came out rare, was sent back and got a refund. The chefs can’t cook meals at the same time and therefor orders the wait staff to leave the half the meals sitting under the lights for over 15mins with some meals to dry out before the whole table can eat! What an absolutely stunning setting! Views across to Athenree, Bowentown & Matakana Island. Large outside area with plenty of large tables, equally smart indoor dinning too. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly, as was the young lady who waited my table. Chicken burger was very filling (couldn't quite finish it) and one of the best I've had in some time.
