Eat Cafe — Restaurant in Canterbury

The food was excellent, highly recommend the steak and mushrooms in red wine pie. The meat melts in the mouth, the pie is NOT a wet mess and the pie is not over seasoned. The coffee was excellent, I had flat white and it was NOT acidic, or over bitter unlike many available in Ashburton.

The metal chairs are noisy on the concrete floor and the table clearing is slow. Perhaps soft rubber pads on the chair legs could fix the noise issue, and maybe the wait staff were busy in the prelunch rush so did not keep on top of the mess. There had been a toddler swim class...

Pretty upset about the service today. Ordered my eggs Benedict and sat down with my mum, they brought her food out and then we waited and waited. Half an hour went past so I got up to ask whether they could put my food in a takeout box, because the wait was unacceptable for a quiet cafe and 2 poached eggs (which were overcooked) on hash browns, and I was charged 50c for a takeout box.

I would understand if this was because I had received my food and didn’t finish it, but absolutely ridiculous to charge someone because they’ve waited too long...

Love their coffee!! Amazing cappuccino with almond milk, the girls never disappoint especially Monaro. Usually my go to is a sausage roll or their famous cheese rolls but one morning I tried their big breakfast and honestly I was hugely impressed, especially when you're able to choose how you want your eggs. They've also not long done renovations in the café and I think it's a lot better, so...
